COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American standard, BBC APA is a full bodied and heavily hopped American Ale. It is copper in color and brewed with a blend of pale and crystal malts, balancing the citrus and pine flavors from large doses of American and English hops to create a very drinkable, hoppy ale. BBC APA is a hophead’s dream!

Cask at the brewery - dirty gold/copper with a thick, creamy off white head. Aroma of grassy/citrusy hops. Nicely hopped for a straight Pale Ale. Maybe a bit out of balance, but that’s okay for this hop fiend! Creamy mouthfeel. This is definitely a brewery on the rebound!

On tap at the Cincinnati airport taproom, 4/2/06: Good copper color with a gluey head. Sharp grapefruity bite right up front. Bit of a metallic tinge. Almost a woodchip factor. Very good.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2011 Nice juicy and fruity hops all over this one. Grapefruit and tart doughy tangerines with a crisp, and fresh, juicy flavor... very nice bitterness, wonderfully grassy fresh hop cones everywhere. Pretty much what an APA is supposed to be about, very well-crafted.

Bottle... Mine poured a mostly clear, orange/amber with a large, frothy, off-white head. Terrific retention. The aroma is equally malty and hoppy. Malty caramel and very light milk chocolate. Hoppy grapefruit, tropical fruit and pine. Hearty, malty flavor up front; followed closely by an abundance of American bittering hops. The result is a brew with good balance that leans just a little toward the bitter side of the scale. Full-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Lengthy, moderately bitter finish. More body than any other ≤6% ABV beer I’ve ever tasted with the exception of Dark Horse’s Tres Blueberry Stout (4.5%).

Pint, BBC Brewpub, Louisville. Deep amber colour, fantastic hoppy aroma, thick sided head that clings to the glass. Hops show through in the flavour, with some sharp bitterness and long lingering aftertaste. Great APA.

12 oz bottle. Murky amber with a thick off white head. Big nose - sweet malt and citrus hop are separate yet equal. Very piney flavor and finish, with a sweet malt presance. This is a big, serious APA. 6%? Really? Wow. Very good!

Nice and bitter. Pretty golden amber with a frothy head. Citrus taste with citrus hops aroma.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2009 On tap. Pours a light brown hue with a reasonable head. Delicious hop aroma. Infused with just the right amount of hops where you know it’s there, but it doesn’t take away from the other flavors. After taste almost hints at a flavor of vanilla as the hops settles.

Had this one on draught as part of a sampler from the brewpub in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Dark reddish-brown pour with a thin, off-white head. Fruity, citrusy nose with a huge grapefruit and spicy hops presence in the flavor, finish is softer and nice and balanced. I liked this one a lot!
