Bottle. Pours a deep brown nearly black with a small quickly fading tan head. Aroma is roasty and malty, more standard stout than bourbon or barrel. of which there are some faint notes. Flavor, again mostly roast and some cocoa with a note of coffee. Finishes quick with a slight woodiness. Medium body and a way to heavy sharp carbonation. Not a great offering for the style.

16oz pour at Spacebar comes a thick black with some soft, white head. Nose has a lot of roast, licorice, toast, the bourbon is there but it’s more a vanilla/caramel thing than anything. Flavor really comes through with the booze, loads of vanilla, toasted wood, coconut, something a bit artificial like cheap rootbeer, licorice, burnt malt. Full bodied, lightly boozy finish.

12oz bottle - can’t remember where I got it. Black pour, enormous frothy light tan head that takes forever to recede. Aroma of chocolate, zesty, wood. Tastes are sour... looks like this has evolved. Pretty much tart green apple and vinegar throughout with chocolate, molasses, coffee in the background. Heavily carbonated thin palate. Kind of like it as a sour. 12 oz that appears to have been bottled in January 2013. Pour is black with a lasting meringue-like foam. Aroma is spicy toffee, and coffee with a hint of vanilla. Front tastes of tart green apple. Finish has some coffee and green herb. Very bipolar and no barrel presence to speak of. Medium body leans to the dry side with the acidic roast and the tartness. Medium carbonation and well-hidden abv. After rating and then reading others, this bottle might have been slightly infected.
