Pours black with a caramel white head. Big Smokey nose with a touch of hops. Taste is a toasted malt, sweet and Smokey.
On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown ruby hue with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast and cocoa. Medium body, toasted malt, caramel, light dry finish, good. bigbish (712) - California, USA - NOV 28, 2015

Sampled at GABF 2015. In sample glass was dark brown with tan foam. Nose of chocolate. Medium body. Flavor is big on chocolate and the finish is bittersweet. To style and tasty. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 18, 2015
Poured into a perfect pint.
2.75 A: Dark brown black color. Two fingers of foamy tan head. Retention is below average and no lacing is left.
3.0 S: Dry with a lot of roastiness that borders on ashy. Some coffee and chocolate notes, but mainly just the standard roastiness.
3.0 T: Like the nose, there’s a lot of roastiness in here, perhaps a bit too much. A bit sweeter than it smells, but still dry overall. Again some chocolate and coffee notes under the roast.
3.0 M: Light to lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lacking creaminess.
2.75 D: It’s not a bad beer, but it’s simple and the flavors it focusses on aren’t the right ones.

Sasparilla body, ok head. Nice moderate roasty nose with restrained black patent usage. Berry-tinged flavor, with blueberry a likely culprit, melding admirably well with the roasty notes. An interesting and enjoyable fruity porter. Cybercat (5829) - Georgia, USA - JUN 29, 2015
Pours barely translucent ruby-sable with a nice light tan head. Toasty malt aroma has a yeasty overtone and a hint of molasses. Flavor is definitely roast malt, with less yeast and more molasses plus a touch of coffee. Mouthfeel has OK body and good fizz. Reach for this star. willisread (3341) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 17, 2015
Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a small tan head. Chocolate milk, toasted grains and malt on the nose. Bittersweet on the palate. Cacao notes become more pronounced as it warms up to room temperature. A little on the thin-bodied side. Nice finish bitter finish though. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - OCT 17, 2014
UPDATED: OCT 27, 2014 Tap @ Bluegrass: Chestnut brown & ruby tinted body with a thin beige collar. Toasted & light roasted malts with a faint hint of acrid & heavily roasted coffee beans lingering in the background. A little bit of faint cocoa dust & some metallic earthiness on the palate, too. A touch fizzy & light bodied for a porter. tnkw01 (1753) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 18, 2014
Bottle. Dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma was tosted grains and mocha. Taste was smooth, chocolately and tasty.
