Pours a medium brown color, but the light shines through clearly. There isn’t much head and it is a bright white. This beer smells a little sweet and almost fruity. It tastes of chocolate and coffee with a bit of a malty aftertaste. Pretty good beer with a solid flavor. Aurelius (5437) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 19, 2007
A sturdy offering. Cereal, musty, roast aroma. Fair label, watery cola color - clear and dark. Cocoa, cereal, lightly nut sweet. Finishes out with some astringency and green nuts. A little bit of work would make this a frontline brew. Crafty07 (404) - Florence, Kentucky, USA - APR 14, 2007
Last reviewer got it right. nutty, quafable brown ale that is not distinct but enjoyable. Just a hint of metaltic aftertaste on this kept me from rating this higher. Bluegrass does another beer style proud. boboski (1095) - Alabama, USA - FEB 9, 2007
Clear mahogany pour, diminutive and quickly fading beige head. Aroma is of nutty caramel, light vanilla, fresh flowers, lightly toasted sweet malts and grains. Flavor is not too shabby, with more nutty malts, caramel and light chocolate on the backnote. Finishes thin and semi-sweet. Palate is thin but well wrought and somewhat silky. A quaffable brown ale, nothing distinct but pretty enjoyable. Rynoplasty (700) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JAN 3, 2007
Pours brown with a thin head. Aroma is malty and slightly nutty. Slightly thin bodied but malty and sweet. Very good and very reasonably priced as well.

On tap: Pours dark brown/ruby color with a light tan head that is mostly lasting. Malty aroma has hints of caramel and nuts. Medium body has a sweet nutty flavor from start to finish. Easy drinking and enjoyable but no WOW factor. vyvvy (6574) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 27, 2006
Pours clear brown with a soapy tan head. The aroma is malty with some cocoa, toasted malt, hints of coffe and some nuttiness. Medium / light body with a good amount of semi-sharp carbonation. The taste starts sweet and malty with light mollases, underlying butterscotch and bits of honey. The finish has a bit of spice and lingering sweetness. Not bad, just pretty darn plain. hammerbeck (101) - Kentucky, USA - DEC 22, 2006
Very average English brown ale. Nothing spectacular, but nothing off-putting. Great if you are in the mood for this sort of thing, but it didn’t knock my socks off. RichJ7 (1175) - Cullman, Alabama, USA - DEC 18, 2006
Pours a dark brown in color with a tiny, beige head. Roasted nut aroma. Flavor of meaty pecans with a dash of the bitter shell left on, a bit of caramel . Sweet malt up front. Slightly watery, but not bad. weeare138 (936) - Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 26, 2006
Thanks to kmpitz2 for this...
Appearance is transparent chestnut brown with a small, light tan head that fades into a collar and mild cap. Little speckles of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of cocoa, roasted nuts, and fresh, cracked grain.
Taste is nutty with hints of cocoa, roasted grain, with a bit of crisp wheat coming through, along with a touch of caramel.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a mild grainy astringency. Lots of nutty, grainy residue brushing along the palate behind the slightly thin swallow.
