Copper brown pour with a little white head. Good toasted malt nose. Taste is sweet toasted malt with a semi bitter finish.
Very malty in aroma and flavor. Nuts, caramel, lightly sweet. Earthy, full, but trailing thin in the finish. bigbish (715) - California, USA - NOV 28, 2015
Didn’t take tasting notes. Just wrote down the score so I’m typing just enough words. Boomersmancave1 (133) - Wheatland, Indiana, USA - NOV 25, 2015
Bottle. Nutty aroma. Malt and light hop flavor. Nice finish. Another fine product of Kentucky! DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 18, 2015
Poured into a perfect pint.
2.75 A: Dark amber color. Two fingers of foamy beige head. Retention is below average and just a few wisps of lacing are left.
3.75 S: Toasty with a hefty batch of nuttiness. It’s a sweet nuttiness like those nuts with the crispy sugary coating. The last aspect of this beer is like a dog kibble, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Overall it’s not bad and I do enjoy the potency.
3.25 T: Again lots of nuttiness and toasted malts. A woody flavor enters the fray. Then there’s a strange flavor. It tastes like toffee if all the sugar was removed. I think this is the same aspect of the brew that gives the dog kibble aroma. Anyway, it’s not bad, but it could use some refinement.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy and smooth.
3.25 D: Not the best, but it’s tasty enough to recommend giving it a try.

Bottle - snagged a couple before they disappear. Nutty chocolate malt and herbal hay aroma. Chestnut brown with small head. Sweet creamy nutty caramel malt flavor. Body on the light side. Pretty good. superspak (6236) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - MAY 1, 2015
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled in 7/2014. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, plum, apple, nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, light plum/apple, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good robustness and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a nice English brown ale. All around good robustness and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering. willisread (3811) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 17, 2015
Old rating. 12oz bottle from old town. Caramel and toffee on the nose. Taste is more of the same but not very well done. Slightly watery. Metallic notes from the bottle. Not very good. culchiem (4256) - Berlin, GERMANY - FEB 17, 2015
