BBC Nut Brown Ale has a diverse grain bill which lends this traditional English ale a variety of flavors that coalesce into a remarkably smooth and pleasant drink. Additions of various pale, caramel and dark malts create a smooth, sweet malt profile with hints of roasted nuttiness. Multiple additions of English hops round out the flavors and give this classic beer a true flavor of the Old World.

Good looking clear brown ale w/ nice tan head. Sweet, smooth, malty mouth feel makes for an easy drink. Very slight alcohol burn (or maybe thats just me?). Well balanced brown.

Very malty in aroma and flavor. Nuts, caramel, lightly sweet. Earthy, full, but trailing thin in the finish.

Didn’t take tasting notes. Just wrote down the score so I’m typing just enough words.

Bottle. Nutty aroma. Malt and light hop flavor. Nice finish. Another fine product of Kentucky!

Poured into a perfect pint. 2.75 A: Dark amber color. Two fingers of foamy beige head. Retention is below average and just a few wisps of lacing are left. 3.75 S: Toasty with a hefty batch of nuttiness. It’s a sweet nuttiness like those nuts with the crispy sugary coating. The last aspect of this beer is like a dog kibble, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Overall it’s not bad and I do enjoy the potency. 3.25 T: Again lots of nuttiness and toasted malts. A woody flavor enters the fray. Then there’s a strange flavor. It tastes like toffee if all the sugar was removed. I think this is the same aspect of the brew that gives the dog kibble aroma. Anyway, it’s not bad, but it could use some refinement. 3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy and smooth. 3.25 D: Not the best, but it’s tasty enough to recommend giving it a try. ★ 870 characters DavoleBomb, Jul 11, 2013

Bottle - snagged a couple before they disappear. Nutty chocolate malt and herbal hay aroma. Chestnut brown with small head. Sweet creamy nutty caramel malt flavor. Body on the light side. Pretty good.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled in 7/2014. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, plum, apple, nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, light plum/apple, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good robustness and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a nice English brown ale. All around good robustness and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Old rating. 12oz bottle from old town. Caramel and toffee on the nose. Taste is more of the same but not very well done. Slightly watery. Metallic notes from the bottle. Not very good.
