Draft sample at the source. The beer is a dark brown with a khaki head of foam. Sweet chocolate and molasses with strong toffee and caramel. Very sweet. Creme brûlée. Medium body and moderate carbonation.

lamas (1651) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 19, 2017
Draft at The Arsenal on 09/02/17. Served in a little snifter. Arrived at the table a jet-black with a thick tan head. The aroma featured chocolate, coffee, caramel, vanilla, and only the faintest hints of cinnamon and chili peppers. Went down full-bodied and velvety smooth. The taste was all chocolate cake, coffee, creamy vanilla, and slight touches of cinnamon and chili peppers. Plenty of warming alcohol was apparent throughout. A bit disappointing as I was hoping for a bigger chili presence.

reggiedunlop (3726) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 14, 2017
Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma has notes of cinnamon and chocolate that dominate...some vanilla and coffee peek through. Flavor follows suit...sweetness at first but gives way to dry cocoa roastiness...himt of smoke and super subtle heat at the end. Awesome.

Quite nice stout. A little cocoa, but smooth and drinkable. Good brewery to stop by before a nationals game.

appearance: near black, short creamy light tan head. aroma: chocolate, earth, cinnamon, hint of vanilla. taste: sweetish, with a bit of chocolate, just a hint of chili heat, some cinnamon and roast. finish: dry, slight lingering sweet chocolate and coffee. notes: Not bad; good aroma and flavors, but the palate was too light for the style. Draft at Owen’s Ordinary in Rockville, Maryland.
