chinchill (5000) - South Carolina, USA - APR 16, 2016
On tap at 2016 Hogs and Hops.
Near black, opaque body that looks thick and is topped by a short head that’s not very durable.
Thick, viscous full body with appropriate light carbonation.
Excellent aroma with admirable complexity. Dark bread, dark dried fruits and vanilla.
Flavor is disappointing after this great aroma. It lacks balance, has strong sweet and bitter notes that don’t counterbalance, is too boozy, and has too much char.
Overall: OK for style. drowland (8676) - Georgia, USA - APR 5, 2016
4/5/16. 12oz can from Hop City. Black pour under a small tan head, but loads of lacing, basically coats the glass. Rich aroma, loads of chocolate, some church basement coffee, a metallic tinge. Good flavor, loads of chocolate again, almost reminds me of Hersey syrup, but the roasted malts balance it out with a roasty dryness and a touch of pennies. Not bad. mixmasterob (1057) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - FEB 10, 2016
Can. Listed as 12.5%. Black pour with a thin dark brown head. Aroma was charred malt, burnt marshmallow, dark cocoa, touch of coffee and smoke. Flavors were slightly astringent, bits of dark cocoa, licorice, roasty malt, lingering, slightly bitter smoky finish. Mouthfeel was surprisingly on the medium side given the ABV. It’s certainly more dry than I was suspecting. Overall a nicely attenuated, big, roasty stout. jw0406 (1275) - atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 19, 2016
12 oz can pours black with a nice off white head. Aromas of roasted dark malts, chocolate, some licorice. Full bodied, a nice effort jbruner (4740) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - APR 13, 2015
Pours a deep black on tap with thin ring of tan head. Aroma of big roast, tobacco, earth, taste follows with an assertive bitterness. Booze isn’t too bad, black malt a touch over done, but not bad.

Growler @ the Beer Growler. Black pour. Smells of fusel booze & roasted malts. Strong! with goosebumps. Loads of roast, licorice. Huge heat in the finish. Roasty (4318) PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2014
Atlanta, Ga. - Taco Mac - Sandy Springs - on tap. Dark as night black pour, sticky khaki head that leaves behind a nice film of lacing. Aroma has some licorice accents, a touch of dark unsweetened chocolate. Flavor is bold with some creosote notes, a bit of espresso, some licorice to top it off. Mouthfeel is clean and slick. Draft at the source. Black color, brown head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma and taste of huge chocolate, roasted coffee, booze. Cybercat (5834) - Georgia, USA - JAN 15, 2014
Comes out of the growler an opaque coffee brown with a nice tan head. Aroma starts with roast malt and adds coffee, licorice and anchovy notes. Anchovy? Lemon curry? Mouth filling flavor trots roast coffee, toasty malt, licorice, earthy and hay notes; the tinny undertone is puzzling but barely off-putting. Texture is thick and syrupy, though not too fizzy; finish has coffee, chocolate, caramel and anchovy notes. Again with the anchovies! Doesn’t matter, this here now stout is no loser. Tap from Lazy Dog. Pours opaque dark brown with a thin layer of tan head. Aroma of coffee and something sweet, more milk chocolate than dark. Taste of roasted coffee and a kind of sneaky hint of floral hops/citrus.
