Draft at Capones during RBSG 2011. Poured a dark black body with a smaller tight foamy light beige head. Aroma was subdued with notes of chocolate, raisin, nutts, and some dark cherries. Thinner bodied with soft carbonation and rather smooth for a 13% monster. Flavor of dates, dark cherry skins, bananas, paint thinner. The alcohol comes through way to harsh on the flavor. On tap for the Ratebeer event at Capones. Pours a dark brown or light black color with medium to large creamy brown head. Aromas of bitter cocoa, coffee, roasted grains, bread. Taste is a bready malt driven mix of soy, licorice, spicy rye, and sour hoppy bitterness. Very different beer from what I am used to. Initially didnt care for it but as it warmed and the way it finishes brought it up in my book. yespr (48100) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2011

Tap at Capones. Pours black. Brown head. Nose/taste of roast chocolate malt, vanilla, licorice and warming alcohol. Good balance for the ABV. pineypower (3346) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - JUN 5, 2011
Tap at Capone’s. Pours out black with not much of a head. Aroma is of some light roast, alcohol, light chocolate and roast. Taste is of some odd medicinal notes, some chocolate, light roast and some alcohol on the finish. But for clocking in at 13%, the alcohol is rather well hidden. egajdzis (6776) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 5, 2011
Opaque black color with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark roasty malts, dark fruits, chocolate, smoke, and alcohol. Taste of more dark chocolate, fruits, burnt wood, smoke, roast, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Probably less than 13%.
