Draft to taster. Looks solid; a cloudy brown with very thin off-white lacing. Smells and tastes malty and nutty with an average mouthfeel. Not bad.
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a semi-hazy brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a mild pace. Messy lace.
The aroma consisted of soft sweet and roasty nuts, some caramel/toffee malts, light cocoa powder and a touch of vanilla to round it out.
The flavor seemed to lean towards the sweet side. Slightly developed the roasty side of the nuts ever so slightly but that even had a hard time trying to come out. Nice smooth and blended aftertaste of the malts and the roasty nuts. Barely any finish.
The feel was between light and medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. ABV almost made me think twice, was this an imperial brown ale? But the alcohol seemed controlled as to hide itself fairly nice.
Overall, pretty nice brown ale, not sure which one of the three I liked the best, maybe this one. I’d have to give them all another go if I could go at them again.
