From Carrefour. Can. In Ikea’s pint glass. Playing Electronic Super Joy. Sweet roasted malts with a strong grassy finish and a smooth body. Much better than expected. Misleading name as it isnt a bock but a dunkel

January 2017 - 330ml can in Barcelona as ’Bock Damm’, 5.4%. Very dark brown with a red hue, almost opaque, foamy brown head leaves full lacing. Aroma is airy, some bubblegum, toast and burnt plastic, some burning rubber. Body is a bit frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is watery, a touch thin, some roast malt, molasses and rye bread in water, light leather, spent coffee grounds (third or fourth rinse!). Quite watery. I had this slightly chilled and I wonder whether it would have been better at room temperature. Just OK.

Dark brown color, tan head that quickly disappeared. Aroma of grain, caramel and honey. Taste is a mix of caramel and dark fruits, and it is far from bad. Definitely not a bad beer, but obviously, this is not a bock.

Kita (2122) - Koper, SLOVENIA - DEC 12, 2016
On tap, 0.40l @ Mac Tire Pub, Banja Luka. Pours pitch black with creamy tan-like head and great lacing. Faint aroma of roasted malt, grass and caramel. Taste starts with medium sweet roasted malt and coffee, follows grassy and mild medicinal, while finish is medium bitter. Light to medium body, creamy texture and lively carbonation in palate. Nice one, but not outstanding...

Bottle 25cl. Brown with a light brown head. Sweet malty aroma, a bit flavourless but hints of liquorice and burned caramel. At the far end, a weak hint of bitter hops comes to the surface. Nkt a bad beer, but also not special.

Bottle in a resaurant in Faro. Mahogany with a rim of off white bubbles. Mild roast aroma. Fruity flavour with some coffee. OK.

Grumpelmies (318) - North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - NOV 6, 2016
Bottle. Dark brown. Aroma and taste are malty and sweet with a hint of liquorice. Caramell and some dark fruits in the background. Sweet finish. Nice carbonation. Not outstanding but balanced and easy drinking. I have no idea why this Dunkel is called "Bock" though. Label and bottle design are pretty heavy metal which is of course always a good thing.
