Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new lan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a top-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Jado (798) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - APR 25, 2014
From 250 ml bottle. Pours a clear brick red with a thin off-white head and lively carbonation. Aromas of sour cherries, raisins, fresh green apple and hints of vinegar and flowers. The taste is brightly sour up front and that carries through into the mid-palate where more distinctly fruity notes appear. Apples and light raisin at the back end leading to a crisp, sour finish with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Liked this a lot.

250 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber brown colour with a white firm head. Aroma of tart cherries, some wood and toffee. Rather rich flavour of tart cherries, wood, some raspberry seeds and mild bitterness. Nice acidity. Medium bodied and a sharp, wooden, dry finish. Surprisingly good. Nice and sharp with its acidity.
