Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a top-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2014 Bottle. Cherry brown. Aroma is great - cherry wood, caramel, and nut. The taste adds mild tart flavor and dark cherry sour notes with a hint of chocolate and banana. Very drinkable for the style. Love it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Clear, light medium brown, medium persistent head with moderate lace. Sour, caramel, sour red fruit, cheeses lactic profile. Dry, moderately sour and low bitterness. Medium weight and long. Fresh, clean, fruity, refreshing. Not a power house but balance, good carbonation and presentation. Very nice beer.

Flaska på Nya Tröls. En bra välbalanserad Oud Bruin som inte är för söt. Istället lätt syrlig med söt stenfrukter, körsbär och inlagda plommon, vinbär, lite sirap, lätt plommonkärnbeska. Riktigt trevlig

More in balance than many Flemish browns, this has a nice malt expression. The sourness is pleasant but more accessible than a sour enthusiast might prefer.

A very decent sour ale, though a bit on the sweet side. A nice funk tempered with some caramel and tart apple. Tried at Mulready’s during the Dirty Kanza in 2014.

Bottle at tasting with friends. Clear amber with a medium off-white. Light to medium body with moderate to high carbonation. Sour with some sweet tones. Brown sugar, dark fruits, caramel and sour cherries. A decent sour brew.

A dark brown ale with a red tint. Clear, filtered. Straight up sour and in a really good way. Yeah for good balanced sours.

Old world red/brown sour. Awesome ruby red color and sweet/tart aroma and taste. Tart somewhat overwhelms the sour, though a very drinkable ale!
