Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new lan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a top-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Smells nice and fruity, wild yeast, sweet smell. Nice amber color, no head, tastes good, but I prefer the other brews Ive tried from Bockor. Some light sweetness, nice sour taste, low bitterness, good and fruity. I got no criticism here. A nice clean brew to enjoy after a hard day at work.

Bottle. Pours mahogany brown with ruby highlights. Moderate long lasting off-white head. Aroma: moderate acetic sourness, caramel, esters, minor spicy phenols. Light body. The flavour is dry and tart. Noble fruity medium sourness. Balancing caramel. Light yeastiness. Very low bitterness. Good and classic.

Being new to trying sours, I found this one just the right blend. It was mildly sour, vibrantly fruity, and easily drinkable. It is one of the favorites at a place in Santa Cruz, CA. called "Pour- the tap room"

Dark red color. Nice lacing head. Caramel malts in the taste. Quite a sweet start, low to medium sourness. Simple but enjoyable.

Deep reddish/brown pour, dark enough where you cant see through it. Thin reddish hued head. Aroma is sweet. Hints of cherry and fruit. Light bodied with huge carbonation. Dry finish. Taste is full of fruits. Tart cherries, apples and a hint of cranberry and raisins. A little lace present.

Delicious sour ale. Does not disappoint. Redish brown color and very light head. Not as good as Monks Cafe.

Very musty (too much), corky, green apples, light medium acidity, mineral, very light chocolate and caramel roasty sweetness.
