Pours almost black with about one finger of head that shows decent retention and nice lacing. Aroma is nicely intense. Caramel, brown sugar, dark/dried notes (prune most noticeable) and a slight vinous hint. Sweet taste as the aroma suggested, still never over the top. Caramel malts, sugar or some kind of soft yeasty feel, dark fruits, slight alcohol warmth. Some sugar in the finish too, but nicely attenuated by a relatively dry finish. Medium to dense in body with medium to high carbonation in a quite full mouthfeel. Overall a good enough belgian strong dark.

Bottle 0,33l. My version was 8,5% abv. Dark, mahagony red color with finger of compact, creamy, light brown head. Aroma of dried dark fruits, caramel, note of typical Belgium yeasts. Taste starts light sweet, nutty with medium body and finish light bitter with burnt caramel and a touch of alcohol. Good one!

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2017 Tried 8.5 abv version also outdated for one year. Smell not so strong; bit caramel, vanilla. In taste was a lot of alcohol what was surprise for me due to other reviews. Can't finish it. Probably should give another chance but for not an outdated one.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black with some beige foam. Nose has boozy caramel, nitty and displays some prunes. Taste is dry, sweetness subdued, plums and prunes strong in taste. Bit boozy but still 9% does not really show. Nice Belgian.

Very tasty dark beer. One of my favourites because of its smoothness. Careful because it packs a punch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
