Strong pleasant taste but a little bit stronger than perfect. It is good for people that love dark beer .

At De Kalvarieberg, Bruges. Pours hazy dark brown with a lasting, small, foamy, tan head. The aroma contains brown sugar, ripe fruits, caramel, dark chocolate, some yeast and spices. It tastes medium to heavy sugary sweet and very light spicy bitter. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. A bit unbalanced but enjoyable.

Bottle from Cafe Bruxelles, Leicester. Dark brown with uneven off-white head. Cola, walnut, Berty and light chocolate in the aroma. Sweet taste, almost cloying but brought back from the brink by the peppery hop note. Drier finish. Heavy carbonation in the body with plum, salted caramel and liquorice in the aftertaste. Lovely.

Lekker bruin biertje zoet met een nauwelijks merkbare bittere afdronk, zeker voor herhaling vatbaar, mooie rustige smaak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle, Poechenellekelder, Brussels, 19 May 2017) Dark reddish brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, liquorice, raisins and anise. Malty taste with caramel, liquorice, anise, dark fruit, burnt sugar and a gentle spicy bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and really well balanced with interesting flavours of liquorice and dark fruit. Very nice.

16th May 2017. 33cl bottle: BBD 18th Jul 2018. Drank at a beach bar in West Ende while enjoying the afternoon sun. Wife was not happy when she saw the ABV of this and the Le Fort Tripel I bought with it (we shared both beers). Luckily she liked the both the beers and the glasses we drank them out of. Red hue to the brown body, lightly tanned topping. Malty with a liquorice and spicey feel to the fairly sweet brew. Very pleasant, walked three miles or so to ’Iceberg’ in Middelkerke for our next beers.
