COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

Dark red, quite clear. Sour cheeries in aroma and taste. Nice sourness, fresh, really good!

Gift from Rune, bbf my50th anniv., thanks man! Brown bottle 33cl pours a light beige 2-finger head that makes some lacings, on the ruby-copper clear body. Sour grapes, grass, some malts, winey stuff, to the nose. Sour berries as redcurrant to the tongue, sour green apple, fruit wine stuff. High carbonation disturbs me a little. There is some bread in the finish, under the dominant now sweeter redcurrant juice. I guess it is meant to be this way, acc2the style. Nevertheless, I don’t know this style, so my points are probably very subjective.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Spare off-white head and amber-coloured. Aroma is dominated by raspberry, brown sugar, vanilla and vinegar. Palate-feel is lively and chalky.

Lovely ruby red with almost no head. Smells of tart cherries. Tart cherry and vanilla on the front and more darker flavors like cocoa (yeah I read it first and the power of suggestion is strong) at the end. Mild effervescent with a tannin like dry finish.

Flaske fra SB Sälen. Rød/brun, nesten uten skum. Masse kullsyre, aroma av kirsebær, frukt og grape. Smaken er veldig syrlig - eddik og sitrus/grape. Lang, syrlig ettersmak. God!

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2015 Mahogany red with no head. Vinegar, some caramel, vinegar again. Taste is for me way too sour, and sour in the wrong way. It’s sherry vinegar with some input of cognac / cherries.

Draft @ De Klein Duyvil. Cherry red, little white head, no lacing. Aroma is typical sour- vinegary, but also fruity, of cherries. Flavor is much the same. Quite sharp, nicely carbonated, with a lasting soureness that bites the palate. Nicely complex sour. Really good.

Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. CLear reddish brown, brief beige head. Fruity red berries aroma with some wood and vinegar. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Semi dry with a bit overwhelming acetic acidity.

Pours cloudy burgundy with a large, quickly settling off-white head. Aroma is cherries, tartness, figs, red wine, slight red fruit and vanilla. Taste is sour cherries, red currant, tartness, slight roasted notes, vanilla. Mouthfeel is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is cherries and slight funk. Very good!
