The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

Nice sour tartness. It has a really crisp and clean taste. This is very enjoyable. Not super funky, just sour & tart.

Pours a deep rich red color with an opaque look to it. Aroma is of cherries and oak alcohol. Taste is sour, with a hint of vanilla and sweet cherries. A sour finish with an easy drinking finish. No distinct aftertaste.

Nice deep red appearance with small white head. Smells sour, funk, red wine, fruity, some barrels. Huge sour, fruity, vinegar mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Nice lingering sourness with alot of complex cherry, some barrel. Overall: so sour, so complex.

Pours a deep red colour with and off white head. Aromas of sour cherry, dark fruit, malt vinegar, and earthy wood notes. Pulls your jaw pretty good. Nice and sour but also has good depth. Good sour.

Bottle [330ml]. Pours a deep orange-amber with an average size long-lasting frothy beige head. Nice aroma, sour and funky, with dark fruit, vinegar, caramel malt, wood and earthy notes. Flavour of sour fruit, balsamic, lemon, wood, earthy notes and a long tart finish -- quite flavourful. Medium bodied. Better then I expected, super solid! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2013 A refined flemish sour loaded with all the complexities expected from the style, very nice

A vibrant garnet body, which transitions to a deep amber when fully illuminated, sits beneath a quickly fading 1" light khaki head, the lower portion of the glass covered in medium sized bubbles sprinting upward
Flavors and aromas are nicely balanced and cohesive, layers of acidic earthy barn, lemons, sharp tart cherry, raspberry jam, white and red grapes with creamy yogurt rounding out, all expressed through a smooth medium body alive with sourness and controlled carbonation creating a slick, sweet and sour coating on my palate, a deeper sweetness appears in the residual reminiscent of chocolate covered cherries
