Sampled at Backus’ Backyard Bash. Labeled as Nr. 125. Murky gold with a huge, fluffy tan head. Fruity caramel nose. Caramelly flavors, citrusy orange rind bite. OK, but DAMN pricey. JMFG (1587) - Florida, USA - DEC 8, 2008
Courtesy Immy. Cloudy amber color, even light white head. Corny, grainy, raw cereal aroma. Moderately hoppy taste, earthy and sweet on the back end. Decent overall, but just a grain show. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 27, 2008
Bottle, labeled as Bøgedal Nr. 0125. Courtesy Immy. The cloudy body glows a dark orange-amber color. A small, foamy, off-white blanket crowns the surface, leaving fluffy, cloud-like lacing behind on the glass. The aroma shows a toffee-like malt base, a touch buttery and a touch corny, along with floral hops and minty, herbal notes. Flavors include more toffee malts, with some emerging citrus notes to go along with the floral, herbal hops. Some earthen spice comes through on the finish, as does a touch of vanilla. Smooth and substantial, the light to moderate carbonation imparts a dense, foamy mouthfeel. A solid beer for sure, but this is way too expensive. dchmela (3063) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 25, 2008
Tasting at the McBackus Backyard Bash. Thanks to Immy for this! Creamy caramel colored pour. Caramel, malt and fruity aroma. Smooth funky caramel tastewith a nice hop bitterness and hints of orange peel. Slightly fruity bitter finish. hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 25, 2008
Bottle... Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08...Murky golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Decent retention. Earthy, herbal notes like white pepper, alcohol and soil provide the framework for the odd, but pleasant aroma. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Well-balanced between sweetness, bitterness and acidity. Moderately sweet finish. Big time thanks to Immy for the chance to try this rarity!
