Bottle 50cl.
Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, apple vinegar notes. Flavor is moderate sweet to light light heavy and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090720]

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy citrus aroma. Fruity malty hoppy flavor with some yeasty hints and also some hints of citrus. Has a fruity malty hoppy finish.

Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival 2005. Now, normally one of my favourite breweries, so I don’t know if this was just a bad barrel or what. The only note I made was "virtually undrinkable"

Cask Conditioned at The Cwellyn Arms, Rhyd Ddu, Gwynedd, Wales. Pale gold with thin head. Dry caramel toffee flavour, quite unusual fo a golden ale. Dry, bitter finish. A trange wooden pump clip to this one, it was hard to tell who made it. Probably be a collectors piece in years to come.

My hand pulled half pint has got only a single white patch on the surface of a clear, golden body. Fruity and a bit oily aroma. Mellow oranges and dried fruits in flavour mixed with malts complemented by a short bitter tail (Bricklayers Arms, Putney 18.03.2008)

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - St Albans BF. A copper coloured beer with a bad farty aroma. The taste is old and fusty with tainted fruit skins. Some reasonable maltiness in the aftertaste, but also some sulphur. Poor.

Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival 2005 (last day). Sweaty sock aroma. Not much hop presence. Dryish finish but generally soft mouthfeel. No backbone. I doubt this is how it was intended to turn out. Very dull, but I didn’t find it as offensive as the others.

St Albans. Gravity. Old clothes aroma. Rum & chocolate. Soft. Low hop. Old. Interesting. Not what it was meant to be, but certainly what it ended up being. I shall not be making a repeat visit to the St Albans festival, that’s for sure.
