Lubiere (14151) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 17, 2016
A clear reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, interesting chocolate malt with light vanilla, a bit cloying but overall, interesting. In mouth, a rather metallic chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light vanilla, chocolate extract with corn, a bit watery. Bottle from Oxxo, Cancún.

Bottle in Seattle. Purchased in Oaxaca. Quick dissipating, light bubble tan head. Dark cola body. Dusty, dry chocolate aroma. Very thin body, warming battery acid character. Very odd aftertaste, odd fruit and vague chocolate. Strange beer!

I discovered this one on my last day in Playa Del Carmen, and I knew I had to try it, but unfortunately they were sold only on a package of six. So I did the obvious, bought them and brought them all the way to Europe.  Very dark brown colour, a tone or two lighter from being totally black. Two finger head of brown colour that left a thick lace on the surface and around the glass, once disolved. Aroma is light, of dark chocolate, with some traces of coffee. Very bitter taste with its bitterness persisting and staying for quite long in your mouth. The taste of chocolate is also there, albeit light. Very thick on the body, sort of oily too, with light carbonation. Happy I took those with me after all.

355 mL bottle poured. Courtesy of Luttonm. Thanks! The darkest of copper pours with a thin foam head. Some spicy chocolate aroma, with some beef? Very strange. Flavor is a pleasant surprise. Creamy rich chocolate which doesn’t seem to bother. A slight metallic. Not too sweet. Very strange beer, but this could have gone in a much worse direction.

Very nice, a real chocolate flavour in it. I wish Mexican beers were more like this one isntead only lagers. Nice thick fratures and aroma.

Flaska. Mörkbrun öl med röda inslag. Smutsvitt skum. Dofter av kavring, melass, russin och ljus choklad. Smaken domineras av chokladpulver. Därutöver rostat kaffe. Tunn kropp. Tråkig.

Barreras (1689) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - MAY 1, 2013
Pours a deep brown with a chocolate coco aroma. Taste is a bitter chocolate with malty notes. A rather dry beer for a stout. Not very complex but simple enough where it was easy drinking.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2017 Bottle, 355ml. Dark reddish, frothy tan head. Mild roasted aromas. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation. Thin and fizzy. Medium sweet, medium to light bitter. Unnatural, but not unpleasant chocolate flavors into an acidic fizzy bitter finish. Clearly a macro beer, you have to force yourself to chug it down because its just not tasty and seems artificial.

smells chocolate, licorice, vanilla and dark bread. Taste is flat, watery. Low bitterness, high carbonation. Its the best beer widely available in Mexico So i give it some extra points.
