(Bottle sample @ MBCC 2017 Yellow Session, Copenhagen) Pours hazy medium red with a pale pink head and lace. Aroma is beautiful fresh raspberry with a little jam, sweet vanilla, earthy barnyard, light wood, concentrated and intense. Flavour is flush with tart raspberries up front, juicy and a little jammy, pleasantly sweet vanilla filling in the middle, soft wood, touches of red berry/wine character maybe from the barrel, citrusy acidity, light funky hay, light sour overall with sweet hints and a dry, tannic finish with lingering fruit and vanilla undertone. Medium bodied and smooth with effervescent carbonation. Damn beautiful, the raspberries are handled nicely and the vanilla plays a lovely supporting role. Again, bright, cherry-to-blood red color with good clarity and a small, off-white, pinkish-yellow-tinged head showing moderate retention to style. Sediment left behind.
The nose is the full force of the fruit augmented just slightly by vanilla though it’s not really identifiable as such without knowing it’s there. More of a spice or phenol character that is well-integrated with fruity Brett and tons of malic acid. Light lactic acid and bright berry tartness nips at the nose, on the finish, with no alcohol or flaw. Very aromatic, clean, bright and intensely fruit-forward, as Bokkereyder is apt to be. Again, like the Famboos Cognac, a lot of the lambic character is obscured by the sheer magnitude of the decidedly still young fruit, but it’s no doubt there and should emerge nicely in time.
Quite a bit different than the Cognac version, with more juiciness and similar low levels of vanilla. Surprisingly low sourness, with soft wood and malt creating a perfect texture in concert with tight, natural carbonation. Elegantly dry and with tons of raspberry, boisterous Brett and very low lactic acid levels.
Taste sample from 75cl bottle at Arrogant Sour Fest 2017. It pours a clean purple color with a small pinkish head. Aroma is super juicy fruity and tangy acidic with notes of raspberries and lemon. Taste is super well rounded with just the perfect amount of fruity sweetness and tart acidic lemon, more raspberries and funk with soft vanilla. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, phenomenal framboise, among the best full stop DSG (15623) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - MAY 29, 2017
