Tap at Bold City. I mistakingly assumed that this was an imperial stout when I was drinking this. I could not believe how thin and un-stoutish it was. I eventually figured it out when I saw the sign that said RED ALE in front of me. Did not care for this like most of the beer I had at Bold City. This brewery kind of reminded me of NC brewery. As in, nothing was really impressive. Passable beer, but with all the choices out there, I would never choose to drink it. Nice people though. Sledutah (7833) - Utah, USA - FEB 26, 2013
On tap at the brewery, RBWG GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Appearance: Clear dark brown with a small beige head, some lacing
Aroma: Bourbon and vanilla
Taste: Roasted malts, vanilla and bourbon
Nice and tasty
Tap at Bold City for 12 hours of RBWG. Pours a clear, deep cola red. No head. Nose is tomato, chocolate, prune, raisin. Taste is tart lemon tea, very thin, cherry soda. Thin, tea palate. jbruner (5274) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Pours a translucent brown with no real head or lacing to speak of. Aroma big on the bourbon, vanilla and sweet notes. Taste follows, a little thinner than you would expect from the nose but still a nice vanilla bourbon sweetness. A slightly bitter finish, probably the best beer I have had from Bold City. aracauna (3680) - Georgia, USA - FEB 23, 2013
The bourbon main aroma, but it is not boozy. This just is not a big enough beer for this.

Keg in the hotel lobby during RBWG 2013. Pours brown with a fine, beige cream head. Hefty malt aroma, some alcohol boost, caramel. Medium sweet flavor, dry caramel, semi-dark fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty thin, really. Mild earthy finish, some dry caramel, bit of orange, some dirt. OK. b3shine (9138) - Indiana, USA - FEB 22, 2013
Draft to taster at Bold City. Looks good; cola with off-white lacing. Smells solid; sweet and bourbony. Tastes like it smells, but not as pronounced. Average on the palate. Good, not great. drowland (9057) - Georgia, USA - FEB 14, 2013
2/14/13. On tap at the brewery. Deep red pour with a small soapy khaki head that fades. Mild roast and coffee with slight touches of bourbon aspects in the aroma. The flavor shows more of the barrel, and it does suit this beer the best of their BA projects... light bourbon, roast, coffee, and a bit of malty sweetness. Tasty! Not so good. Aroma is promising, but everything else is disappointing. Tastes like a glass of whiskey that has sat in ice for hours. yayforbeer (753) - Orange Park, Florida, USA - MAY 27, 2011
Pint at the brewery taproom. This is the regular 1901 Red Ale brewed to 9% and aged several months in a Jack Daniels whiskey barrel. I like this version better than the original. The whiskey barrel gives a bourbon sweetness and smooths out the roasty flavors of the red ale. Complex and very good.
