Amberish-brown. Fresh chocolate malt aroma. Fresh chocolatey, earthy malt character with woody, tobaccoey nuances. Burly, maybe a bit husky, but a good beer for dark malt fans. jcwattsrugger (12559) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAR 25, 2009

Draft… Hazy amber/orange ale with a fizzy, white head. Decent retention. The aroma is of warm caramel-malt mash with a touch of cornmeal. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Moderate citrus bitterness alongside grainy toffee and caramel malt sweetness. Crisp, dry finish. sebletitje (10477) - Enghien, BELGIUM - AUG 16, 2009

pours copper, beige head.
Aroma of roasted malts, some burnt caramel.
Flavor, roasted / dark malts, some caramel that seems to come out and adding to the sweetness. Medium carbonation with some spices and hints of hops. Palate seemed to retain some light dark fruit aspects.
Pint on tap at the brewery. Pours a nice, slightly cloudy amber with a one finger white head that leaves very good lacing. Aroma is rye and caramel malt. Taste is sweet and refreshing with toffee, caramel, and rye notes. Some bready malt too. Good creamy body. An excellent session beer.

12/7/12. Growler from the brewery. Deep brown pour with a nice light khaki head that fades to a ring but laces in nice rings. Sweet burnt caramel aroma with a touch of alcohol and dryness. Sweet entry with another small sense of booze and a lingering dry bitterness. A touch thin. Not bad! Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - SEP 1, 2009
On tap at Bold City. It poured clear copper with tan head. The aroma has some roasty and sweet malts mixing with some earthy cherry like sensations. The taste has a smooth sweet maltiness mingling with lesser amounts of malt roastiness and citrus to earthy hops. Tasty stuff. PorterPounder (8358) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2009
Jacksonville, Fl. - on tap at the brewery tap room. My pick out of the 10 beer sampler for a full pint. Pours a medium copper with a soft white head that leaves good lacing. Good caramel and chocolate in the aroma. Flavor has a nice earthy quality to it with some noticeable chocolate, toffee and a hint of citrusy hoppiness. Mouthfeel is rich and thick. Best of the sampler - glasses were too small to be able to provide a adequate sample in my opinion. burg326 (5628) - Florida, USA - MAR 14, 2013
On draft at brewery poured a dark amber color with aromas of caramel, bread, some light maple and some booze. Flavors are the same but wih some earth thrown in. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 9, 2009
Draught at brewery taproom. Deep mahogany copper color. Sweet caramel aroma. Tastes much richer and hoppier than it smells. Nice toasted malt character. Fairly thick but not chewy palate. Nice higher gravity wintery session ale.
