My fav at BC-- RBWG JAX 2013. Nose is chocolate roastiness, light coffee, subtle smokiness. Like that it was not overwhlemed in the smokiness, but it could have been more meaty. Immy (1958) - Virginia Beach, USA - MAY 3, 2009
On tap at the brewery. Clear, very dark brown with ruby highlights. Nice brown head. Mild citrus zing to the nose, but mostly sweet fruit and chocolate, wisps of smoke. Silky body, very smooth. Mildly sweet chocolate flavors, roasty and fruity, a light bite late. Nice stuff! yayforbeer (753) - Orange Park, Florida, USA - NOV 20, 2008
Pint at the brewery tap room. Clear dark brown beer with a light tan head. Sweet, smoky dark malt aroma. Flavor is excellent, with fine balance and layered complexity. Slightly sweet, with molasses and brown sugar, and a very mild smokiness thats not overdone. Very drinkable and enjoyable, and the alcohol wallop is well concealed. My favorite of the brewery so far. Well done. Oakes (18828) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 12, 2009

Near black body with a thick head. Nice plummy aroma with light chocolate. Bitter chocolate palate with a hint of smoke and some subtle dark fruit. Bitter, dry finish with light milk chocolate accents.
On tap at the brewery RBWG.
Opaque dark pour with a creamy tan head.
The aroma combines roast malt and some smokiness.
The flavor follows the aroma with a smoky roast malt bite at the finish.

Pours a deep brown .. mild foam .. lacing is good .. . medium mouth feel .. . smoke is quite subtle .. . well balanced . .. not bad, but i’m a pacifier for smokey brews .. . . the person who first tried cottage cheese must have been a fruit loop.. Draft at brewery. Really dark almost opaque but shows a red-orange at the edges. Creamy head. Barely smokey with notes of coffee and roasted malt. More smoke in the flavor though, generally dry esp at the finish. Deeper into the glass a piney citric (very cascadey) hop came out, which was unexpected but it worked. hopscotch (11236) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 12, 2010
Draft… Pours clear and nearly black (ruby with an orange tint when held up to light) with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The bouquet is roasted, acrid and a hint smoky. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Bitter, burnt, charcoal-like flavor. Acrid, scorched finish. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 20, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2008 Pint at the brewery tap room in Riverside. Pours a deep brown almost black with a thin, tan, creamy head. Aromas mostly muted but there are some chocolate and roasted malts and coffee. Flavor is full-bodied with an enormous balancing hops, brown sugar, and faint smoked malt. Very drinkable and not too light. 8% is barely noticeable as seems to be the case with most of the Bold City beers. Probably my favorite offering aside from the Chinook IPA, which is not listed yet on this site.
