Pours a brownish-black on tap with thick tan head that fades to leave moderate lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, slight dark fruit, coffee, and just about as much smoke as the 1901. Taste follows, really malty, no real smoke, but well balanced and clean. I was not very impressed and looking for a little more smoke from a smoky porter.

1/12/13. Growler from the brewery. Black pour with a nice tan head that fades to a thick ring and laces plenty. Rich roasted malts in the aroma with some coffee and fruitiness - not a ton of smoke. Rich roasted malt flavor as well with big tannic malt bitterness, coffee, chocolate, and a touch of smoke and fruitiness. Not very much smoke, but I suppose that suit’s Bold City’s crowd. Otherwise, tasty!

Pours black with a red hue. Tan head leaves good retention. Aroma is smokey with a dark chocolate sweetness. Taste is bitter chocolate and sweet figs with a smokey finish. A nice bitterness sneaks in to balance it out. Palate is creamy. A very good beer from BC.

On draft at Bold City- "Cherry Wood Smoked Porter." Pours a medium brown with a tan head. Nose is smoke, dark chocolate, some earth, spice, and slight dark fruit. Flavor is similar with the smoke letting the other flavors out, not dominating the flavor profile. Everyone has a chance to shine here. Light to medium in body and finishing with lingering smoke.

Part of a flight at the brewery. Dark red, almost black pour. Roast and smoke on the nose. Very smoky flavor. Kinda some smoked ham in there. Decent. Just not sure why the winter seasonal is still on tap in April in Florida.

Draft at brewer. A deep red almost black beer with a creamy, tan head. Nice roasted malt scent with some coffee. Nice bitter smokey flavor.

juiceisloose (1506) - Windermere, Florida, USA - FEB 7, 2010
Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark brown almost black body topped by a small, tan colored head of foam. The aroma shows hints of dark chocolate, roast, some dark fruits, and a touch of smoke. The flavor follows with the bitter dark chocolate and roast up front, and balanced nicely by some fruits and a touch of smoke. Piney and earthy hops lend some good bitterness on the backend. Medium bodied with good carbonation that leads to a bitter chocolate finish. This is definitely one of their better beers.

hopscotch (11175) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 12, 2010
Draft… Pours clear and nearly black (ruby with an orange tint when held up to light) with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The bouquet is roasted, acrid and a hint smoky. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Bitter, burnt, charcoal-like flavor. Acrid, scorched finish.

Immy (1955) - Virginia Beach, USA - MAY 3, 2009
On tap at the brewery. Clear, very dark brown with ruby highlights. Nice brown head. Mild citrus zing to the nose, but mostly sweet fruit and chocolate, wisps of smoke. Silky body, very smooth. Mildly sweet chocolate flavors, roasty and fruity, a light bite late. Nice stuff!

jcwattsrugger (12507) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAR 25, 2009
on tap-pours a light brown head that laces and dark brown color with red tint. Aroma is northwest hops-citrus, secondary roasty medium malt-licorice. Taste is northwest hops-citrus, secondary roasty medium malt-licorice/brown sugar. Although after half it didn’t mesh so well but still interesting and occasional.
