Drank from a twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Bottle King in Hackettstown, NJ. Nice aromas of chocolately malt and piney hops. Taste mostly hops, I wish there was more malt character.

Poured into tulip. Dark brown with pillow like 2 finger tan head. Smells like chocolate and toffee. Tastes like hops upfront with a toffee and chocolate backbone. Medium, velvet mouthfeel. Pretty tasty! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear, dark brown coloured body with no head at all and no real opacity. Aroma of cardboard, metal, prunes and a touch of roasted malt - no hops at all to smell. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt and oatmeal up front with a surprisingly nice malt profile and some subdued creamy and milk notes and a touch of alcohol and bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows only the roasted malt notes with nothing else to speak of, aside from some light toffee sweetness. Overall, a surprisingly decent beer after the smell was very mediocre - but this isn’t a black IPA, a porter at best, but not as bad as I thought it would be! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 06-July-2013 for US$1.70 sampled at home in Washington on 24-March-2014.

Fresh bottle from NJ. Black bodied, stoutish aroma. Decent on target, though less bold than most others in the style I have had.

Bottle. Clear dark brown pour with half a finger of mocha head that leaves a good lacing. Nuts, pine, caramel, citrus. Lighter than expected body with slightly bitter finish.
