Being brought up on Altbier I cannot be regarded as 100% objective, regarding my overall evaluation of Altbier in general. Bolten's is among my favorites. Maakun (5959) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUL 6, 2017
Bottle shared thanks to kermis. Hazy brown with off white head. Light nuts, cardboard, rye bread, light dough, quite herbal with some dried grass, bit of roast. Light sweet and almost medium bitter. Just medium bodied. OK. ozzatoadisback (187) - ITALY - JUN 27, 2017
Light brown coloured with a good slightly off-white head that shows good persistence and lacing. Quite weak, malty aroma shows caramel, nuttiness and a hint of chocolate. Taste follows the aroma with medium to high sweetness and slight hints of bitterness (leafy/tea) in the finish. Overall much sweeter than your average altbier and perhaps not that true to style. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Overall enjoyable but quite unsignificant. kermis (14125) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUN 1, 2017

Pours a beautiful hazy, nut brown color with a huge, slightly beige head.
Has aromas of bakers chocolate, gently toasted hazelnuts, toffee and dried peas.
Drinks supersoft with an effervescent finish, displaying a perfect balance between its malt foundation and a dryer, leaf defined finish.
Tastes of dry leafes from the very beginning, entangled into toffee malts, earth, whole grain bread, glazed toffee and toasty grain hulls. Its initial dryness maintains throughout but gets effectivly balanced by the complex malts till the finish, in which the beer appears a bit watery.
Awesomly balanced, quite tasty but too thin after mid palate to convince entirely. Tjeerd (607) - GERMANY - DEC 7, 2016
Dark brown beer with a frotty head and a fresh-bitter aroma. Taste is fresh with a little sourish bitter taste and aftertaste. zvikar (6263) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - NOV 4, 2016
