From the brewers who gave you E-Z IPA and SuperHero IPA, the much-anticipated, long-awaited, first-in-history year-round India Pale Ale from the French Broad Brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tropical citrus. Light. Draft at the tap room. Overall just a decent offering.

UXO (1896) - CANADA - JUL 23, 2016
Appearance: slightly hazy pale amber with two fingers of loose ivory head, moderate retention and lacing. (3/5) Aroma: citrus, pine, caramel malt, floral/herbal. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium slightly oily body, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter finish. (3/5) Not terrible, by any means, but it’s an older-style A/IPA, with significant malt presence. There’s a decent amount of starts-with-C hopping there, but it’s not as bright as I’d like it to be. Good, not great. (13/20)

650 mL bottle from the brewery. Not bad, but leans too far to the malt for an IPA. No off flavours, but the hops are muddled and there isn’t much bitterness.

czar (9992) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 20, 2016
sample at mondial de la bière, mtl. from can. hazy medium dark golden pour with a small off-white câp offering minimal retention and lacing. faint citrus, bitter grass and pine, obvious C hops, almost overwhelming caramel, maple syrup as well, resin, but clean. moderate carbonation, light body; almost balanced spicy-citrusy finish. old-school and unrefined. just enough caramel and resin to make your hair grow.

JoeZasada (318) - Beaumont, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 15, 2016
Can. Pours a cloudy light amber with a thick white head. Lots of carbonation; lots a bit when the can opened from a volcano of foam. Aroma of spruce. Taste is hoppy. Lots of flavouring hops, not too much for bittering. Notes of citrus, herbs, a bit floral. Warms to a slighly bitter slightly sweet malt body. Very flavourful, a good example of when hops are used for flavouring in an IPA.

On tap at Bitter Tasting Room in Vancouver. An orange Amber beer with a bit of white head and a fruity hop nose. Citrus piney hop with decent malt backup. Hop and malt finish. Okay. 3.
