3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe. Pours a very dark brown with an off white head. A little lacing. Aroma has fresh sweet fruit - mango from a black ipa? Also some roasted malt - could give this anywhere from a 6 to a 9. Taste ... well fresh fruit is king. Some maltiness underneath, I’ve never had a dark brew as fruity as this. Not too thick or strong. Finishes sweet and fruity. Certainly a different take on a black ipa. Is this a good saison?
Drucken på CBC -17. Nötbrun kulör. Doft av rostad malt. Halvt söt, halvt torr kropp. Smak av rostat bröd, honung, salmiak, kaffe och choklad. Oakes (18577) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 4, 2017
Medium brown with a big, thick, bubbly head. On the nose, it's leafy hops and chocolate. Actually quite a bit different on the palate. Starts sweet and fudgey, bitter, bit of caramel. There really aren't any brighter hop elements here. I'm ok with that, as it's a different structure to explore. Alcohol blast in the finish fits well with the overall intensity of the beer. Tiny shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly funky grassy, leafs, citrus peel, dried fruits, lawn, pine needles, citrus, hints of brett. Taste is slightly fresh citrusy, old leafs, citrus peel, pine needles, mild brett, hay, hops, grass, citrus, hints of cardboard. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Fair enough, a little strange.
Pours dark with ruby reflexes. Aroma: a very nice aroma of chocolate coupled with caramel, grassy and a touch of herb aromas. Taste: nicely balanced with chocolate counterbalanced by massive hoppiness. Palate is bitter but also a bit fruity. Very nice.

On tap at TCBW 2017. Dark mahogany coloured with a beige head. Roasty and rather hoppy aroma with pine, licorice, citrus and hints of herbs. Surprisingly fresh and the alcohol is very well integrated. Balanced, quite refreshing and dangerously drinkable. bpreo (2903) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - APR 19, 2017
Three Floyd’s and Boneyard, not a bad collaboration. This is an extremely dark, bitter, and strong beer. commonmac (1314) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 14, 2017
On tap at Apex in Portland for shawtank celebration. Snifter glass. Black with minor tan head and simple lacing. Aroma has vanilla and a little coffee/chocolate (although that could be impacted primarily by the visual). Plenty of hoppy resin notes as well. Taste is a quality balance of bitter chocolate, dark fruit, pine resin, and grapefruit rind. Very well hidden alcohol. Hops provide an impressive bite especially towards the finish. One of the highest ABV black IPAs I’ve tried and it’s also one of the best. Highly recommended. Fist bumps to Boneyard and Three Floyds.
