11.2floz bottle, unknown freshness, 8% ABV, tulip glass. It be brown. There be some red when dangled in the light. Not much as far as bubbles above the liquid’s surface. Thy aroma be derived from the yeast, bubblegum and rotting fruit it is. Alas, tis there be a typical ale doneth in the Belgian dubbel style. Thereth a full, but hollow body filled with spiced herbs and candied yams. Fair in quality, and not meant in quantity. Ronritter (875) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 20, 2016
poured from bomber brownish black color with thin tan head no lacing to speak of boozy aroma taste of roast malt and brown sugar, really liked brimstone by these guys but this one not so much. ryanfolty (2655) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - OCT 16, 2015
October 16, 2015 - sample via bottle at Blue Max. Brown pour with some head. Malty sweet and spice in aroma and taste. chinchill (5397) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 15, 2015
On tap the the Republic in Minneapolis.
Clear but very dark brown body. Good head that has reasonable retention.
Unusual in that there’s a fair amount of vanilla in the nose and flavor.
The aroma is a bit sweet and may bring a bakery to mind, but the flavor is a more bitter than sweet. Less fruity than average for style,
O: Recommended, if unusual version of the style.

My first Boom Island beer I’ve tried. I’ve mainly avoided this brewery based on reputation. Aroma and appearance are decent enough, but the flavor profile is thin. A slightly tart off flavor which is not expected for the style. Could be infected. Somewhat drinkable, which is the only compliment I can give. Disappointing overall. commonmac (1370) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 29, 2015
Tap at Eli’s in downtown Mpls. Tulip glass. Dark brown with very little head. Toffee and caramel aroma with some roasted notes. Taste feels very mild and elements of toffee and subtle Belgian dark fruit. No real bite. Smooth. Thin which was slightly disappointing. I have had it elsewhere and it’s been better. This rating is based on the current rendition I’m drinking so take that with a grain of salt. Ericular (1042) - Minnesota, USA - MAY 6, 2015
Sampled at Northgate Liquors MN beer tasting. Brown, ESB-like. A fleeting mild roasted taste. johnnymusky (1004) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 3, 2015
poured from bomber...near black nice head lacing minimal...nose is malt and dirt with light yeast notes...mouth is a little more pleasant with a malt backbone...drinkable yet not one to search out.
