AFrom old tasting notes. Hazy ruby red color. Brief white head. Fragrant sour apple nose. Wow! Tangy, fruity wheat malt flavor with hints of crab apple and sour grape. Mouthpuckering with an intensely dry finish. Long, chewy tart aftertaste. Unique. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - MAR 21, 2016
Old Bottle pour. Brown pour no head. Cardboard, oxidation, brown sugar and sweet aromas. Old cardboard, some fruit, weird sweetness. jtclockwork (17070) - , New Jersey, USA - MAR 21, 2016
UPDATED: MAR 22, 2016 Old bottle thanks to Dylan! Pours dark brown - nose and taste of brown sugar, oxidized fruits, old books, light sherry - medium body. Much better than expected if you like brown sugar coated old books, which I guess I do. kraddel (8721) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - MAR 14, 2016
Bottle thnx to Jef !
Pours clear , very dark amber. No sign of carbonation. Smell is oxidized, sweet, metallic. Taste is oxidized. Starts of having some lambic funk, yet fades away to a very sweet, metallic taste that is purely oxidation. Completely flat, I wonder if this ever was carbonated. Ok, not all to great, yet for the age it has, it held up ( a bit ) but we can be sure this one is over the top by now. lachneger (394) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 14, 2015
Amber kleurig bier met bijna geen schuimkraag. Smaak zoet van rozebottel met een licht bubbeltje.

A ’versnijbier’ in an old, typically Lembeek tradition of ’double faro’, which was stronger than normal due to a more copious addition of candi sugar. Spiced with curaçao and - strangely - gentian and sweetened with candi sugar as custom for the style; subdued lambic character, wheaty, sweet and spicy, thin mouthfeel. Perhaps not to anyone’s liking but I still regret that a beer with such historical pedigree has been discontinued meanwhile; Boon’s Donkere Duivel, though a fine beer, cannot fully replace its authenticity. This one poured a darker red color with pretty much no head. Aroma of stale wine and oxidation. Flavor was similar, rotten grapes, light oak and caramle and minty oxidation. Not good Art (3219) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 11, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 2, 2013 Bottle thanks to Nate. Pours a clear brown. Aroma of red wine and alcohol. Dark fruit taste. Carbonation has died down. BeerandBlues2 (13695) - Escondido, California, USA - MAY 2, 2013

Flavor is old malt, hops, and cherries, oxidized with a sweet finish. Light body and carbonation. Best by 29-02-2003. Travlr (25749) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAY 2, 2013
