Raspberry lambic was once a rarity and only produced for a few weeks during the summer. Frank Boon was the first brewer to again prepare a raspberry lambic in the summer of 1976. More than 300 grams per liter of fresh raspberries give Framboise Boon a fresh fruity taste. The young lambic supports the flavor. But this is very much about raspberries, not the lambic. Of course we do not use artificial flavorings, only real raspberries. Boon Framboise has an alcohol volume of 5%. Drink it when it is young.

Bottle. Vintage 2004. Redish-orange color with a thin white head. Aroma is very strong and loaded with raspberry, raspberry seeds, vanilla, wood and some funky sourness. Amazing flavor, tons of raspberries. Balanced with a slightly sour, funkiness and caramel malt backbone. Sweet and sour at the same time. Lighter body with an almost creamy texture and a dry finish.

Bottled - vintage 2000 sampled May 2008. A hazy amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet and acidic with notes of raspberries - as though they are not quite ripe, which lends it an acidity. The flavor is sligtly acidic and tart and dominated by raspberries.
Earlier Rating: 9/23/2003 Total Score: 3.9
[Mine had the same name - different label and was only 5.0% ABV - is it the same beer?] A beutiful clear dark red beer with a beutiful pink head though fast disappearing. The aroma is very sweet with notes of cherries? in a framboise? and some sharp notes. The flavor starts rather sweet with good cherry notes (still weird in a framboise), but then the mold, vinegar, sharpness, and metal from the wild fermentation hits - running along the sides of the tongue. The balance between the sharpness and sweetness is unique. All in all a great beer.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2010 Bottle 75 cl Vintage 1995. Previous known entry as "Boon Framboise Mariage Parfait" at 6.2% ABV.
200 grams of cherries for every liter leaves its mark: nice pink colour with a white head, almost clear. Extremely fruity, berry-like nose. Perfectly balanced between the sweet and sour. Sometimes framboises can be an overly cloying affair, but never here. 040799

Clear dark red beer. Little white head. Light raspberry nose. Semi soft palate, a little dry. Slightly tart raspberry that gets a little sweeter. Thats about that then. Decent fruit beer but one dimensional.

750 ml bottle marked 2006. Dark purple color with a medium white head, scant lacing. Lots of fruit in the aroma, with an edge of dustiness. Flavor starts sweet and stays sweeter than expected, with not much complexity; nice dry finish. Decent body. An OK framboise, if you like them on the sweet side.
Earlier Rating: 12/21/2008 Total Score: 3.3
A pretty simple and straightforward raspberry lambic, a bit more lively and sweeter than I expected. Fruit background with some sourness. Not bad.
