Kriek Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh cherries (25%) are used. Kriek Boon is slightly sweet, with the surprising natural fragrance of sourcherries and almonds. With only 4% of alcohol it is a perfect summer beer.

On tap at LeBaron in the Brussels suburb of Stockel. Ruby color with somwehat fluffy pink head. Big juicy wild cherry nose, sweet flavor but not sticky or cloying, not tart enough but tasty in a simple way with lots of big fruit. Some mild carbonation, a bit wet. Tasty, refreshing, uncomplicated.

Dark red with lasting pink head. Little lacing, strong aroma of cherries and sweetness. Very sweet taste with long aftertaste. Very easy to drink and very good. A little bit more earthiness than Lindemanns. A good balance.

Corked bottle, 4%. Didnt realise this was a sweetshop kriek, but its still pretty tasty. Claret pour with off-white suds. Cherrydrop aroma. Plenty of fruit juice sweetness, a tang of iron and long, sweet, corn-like cereally afters. Quite thick-bodied at the abv. Some bitterness in the finish, but any lambic character is drowned by the sugar and fruit juice. Still a pleasant, natural-tasting kriek-lite.

As much as I like the new features on the site, I cant help but get annoyed everytime I find these beers Ive had loads of in the past and never rated. Well, this is one that Id rather not have had again. Bottle @ The Dove. Ruby with a pink lasting foam of a head. Well its cherry, imagine that, sweet and slightly artificial with an odd cheesiness that I find in most Boon beers. Some real cherry bitterness in the end but its not enough to pull it off for me personally. Not the greatest kriek in my opinion.

Deep red colour with big pink head. Lots of cherries in the aroma, with hints of almonds. Very sweet with only a passing bitterness at the very end.

375ml bottle, 2005: nice deep red color with a small pink lasting head. Cherries abound in the taste and aroma with more sweetness than I anticipated although not as sweet as the Lindemans and certainly not as sour as Cantillon. Ligfht carbonation. Once the sweetness disappears, theres a mild bitter finish. Ver good.

Bottle 37,5 CL (Crop 2006). Pours an almost clear purple with a tan head with pink notes. Smell has mainly cherry, but not as overwhelming as some other lambics, and some butter. Taste also mildly sweet cherry and some sourness and butter. Not bad at all, but there are lambics I like far more

A great Kriek from Belgium, I love the pink head and the lack of sweetness that alot of the kriek has. Had it on tap at Delerium in Gothenburg and will be back for more...

Draft, Engelbewaarder, Amsterdam. Looks, smells and tastes like a nice, tart, cherry pie. Except its a lambic. Its beer. Its tasty and chicks go nuts over this. Never had it on draft until this stop of the DMBT tour, but it sure was remarkable.

Bottle, corked and caged in green glass. Mine says 5% abv. Big cherry aroma, slightly candyish and not really all that sour. Nice and fleshy! A little dust and a good helping of malt. Deep, dark burgundy-red with a fluffy, rocky, thick and lasting, light pink head - gorgeous. Taste is fairly well balanced, perhaps a touch too sweet, but by no means cloying, and in the end extremely drinkable! Medium body. Not really all that lambic-y, and though the level of fruit in the taste remains high, its not really cherry. And not really tart or sour - but still, good fun.
