Clear deep red, small pink head. Balsamic cherry aroma. Acidic and dense, with notes of cobweb and vinegar. Less fruity than Drie Fonteinen and Girardin’s kriekemlambics, and I miss the extra dimension they have. But then unblended lambics change more from barrel to barrel than any other type of beer I know of...

From the barrel at ZBF 08. Hazy red/pink with hints of copper, lasting pink head. More funky farmyard than cherry on the aroma. Really quite funky. Real cowpats. Cherries do come through, but really just too funky for me. I know lots of other people really rated this highly, but i just didn’t get it. Bloody colour. Vinegary nose with cherry pits. Some wood on the palate but also prune, apricot and other indeterminate fruits. Starts tart but moves to a more alkali finish with vinegar.
