Hazy golden brown, off white head. Mild dusty sour aroma. Very nice taste, dust and sourness with balancing sweetness.

Hay and stable in the aroma. Ugly foam. Sour but also bitter. Not bad. Good starter for someone who does not like lambic beers.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2017 (Vintage 2013) Pours amber with a small but lasting white head. Lot of carbonation. Winey aroma, sour and fruity. Can taste lemon, yogurt, cider, grapes peel and some wood. Very complex. Yogurt lingers til a very dry finish, zero sweetness and booze that heats up quickly. Carbonation is high, body is medium, and I?m loving it!

Aromat stajni, zgniłe siano. W smaku lekka goryczka, wyraźny agrest, skrka białych owocw. Sporo dzikości, lekka "funky" kwaśność, ale oglne odczucie nie jest kwaśne, bardziej dzikie. Lekkie i przyjemne.

375 ml cork bottle 2013 Vintage opened with moderate "pop" bought at HK Brewcraft in Central.

Preparation: Fridged bottle, popped at 10C -12C (within recommended temperature range).

Looks: Cloudy hazy straw light amber colour with a thin ring of dirt-like yeast sediments; One finger head with off-white foams which last for 2 minutes; Fair sticky lacing with barely notable slight carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant and tart aroma of malt which can be smelt a foot away, with dry Sherry, Port wine, red wine, white wine, yoghurt, grape skins, light vinegar, strong funk, lemon peels, barrels and tannic. Very complex and nice!

Taste: Strong sour taste of malt, with strong cider-like alcohol, strong liquorices, Port wine, grape skins, yoghurt, strong funk, spices, barrels, strong tannic and strong grass. Lean and tasty!

Body: Mid to light body. Dry and thin palate.

Mouth Feel: Strong maltyness in a quite slick background. Watery at first but the Scrumpy-like cider booze hit fast. You know instantly this is aged to be lean - Port, red winey and grape skins - dry and reserved. The yoghurt and vinegar is light by comparsion. Strong funk / barnyard throughout for nice spiciness. Sweetness is next to zero - true to the Oude Gueuze style. Besides strong cider liquorices theres a nice green grass and lemon to round. Mesmerizing!

Booze: the 8% abv is manifested as nice Sherry and Port to sniff at, and a strong, Scumpy-like lean cider alcohol without any sugar for tasting pleasure. Nice to taste and dangerously easy to do down. Nice!

Bitterness / Tannic: Strong from nose to taste, combined perfectly with cider liquorices and lemon for a lasting, fair to medium astringent grassy malty finish.

After Taste: Quite Dry after taste. Funky, winey and tart to mouth.

Comments: An Oude Geueze which is meant to be treasured, this one did just that - mild yet complex aged wine aroma, lean, dry and sugarless Scrumpy taste, all comes with nice touch of funk and lemony bitterness. Despite the thin palate, I yearn for more. Excellent!

Mooie geuze qua appearance in vergelijking met vele andere geuze. In de smaak zure appelcider, wilde gisten, tannine en droog hout. Licht wrang.
