most unique head ever, just a swirl like an oil slick on water. nose of huge paas easter egg kits. flavor expands on the vinegar notes in the aroma with an odd sugar background. nose becomes nearly crystalline and flavor follows. so tart, acidic and quite wine like. sugar elements slows becomes pure crunchy candy tempered with the white vinegar that just wont go away. i have returned to up my score for ’overall’ on this twice since my initial review now, as i continue to be obsessed with my experience last night, a simple 8 oz sample that continues to haunt me.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2018 Funky aroma with notes of green apple and lemon. Amber, clear without head. Green apple, fruits. Light body, medium carbonation. Dry, a little bit sweet finish.

Bottle in Seattle. Darker, hazed orange with brown hue, lingering soft foam. Big moldy funk on nose, with lots of juicy citrus underneath. Julie says papaya. Creamy, full, sweet sip with lovely developing sour funk. Well layered, with a creamier, sweeter impression than the more tart gueze I know. I presume the higher alcohol is correlated. Lingering lime tartness. Delicious.

Pours almost clear light amber with low white head. Aromas fruity and funky with notes of basement, brett, garden leaves. Taste has dry and tart and spritzy notes of autumn leaves, some earthyness, dry fruityness, farmhouse

Sans être fan du style, cette gueuze est plutôt bien passée (partagée avec mes parents). Les 8 degrés sont très peu perceptibles.

Corked and caged 375ml bottle 2007, best by Sept 10, 2030. Green bottle, like the Kriek. Boon laughs at the possibility of these beers being light struck, as I do. ;^) Big pop, brisk pour, lots of foam that seems to be sticking around, hazy orange yellow colour. There's some lacing and the foam is still hanging in there. Now about a finger's worth. The smell is pretty amazing. Lots of funk, lemon citrus, and VERY bitter. Some peppery spice in the nose as well. It's been a long time since my last Geuze. First sip in and the lemon and funk hit my palate big time. A slight tartness goes hand in hand with a huge bitterness and a bit of a peppery note here and there. More sips in and more, thankfully, of the same. Wow, this is good. The alcohol is hidden very well so I can just sit back and relax with this fine tasting Geuze. Just what the proverbial doctor ordered. Fairly light in body with loads of carbonation...lots of "tickling" on the back of the throat after every swallow. Nice mouthfeel, for sure, and very damn drinkable. Oh and the foam is still kicking it. Hehe...there's not much I can say that's bad about this beer so I won't even attempt to try. This is hitting THE SPOT! Last pour and the beer is now decidedly cloudy with just a wee bit of sediment from the bottom of the glass. I think this is a must try for the lovers of the style.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2018 Bottle from 100 piv, amber color, high carbon, low lasting foam. Light sweet fruity smell, champagne-like sour smell. Typical lightly sour taste with the background of wood. Lovely

Barea (135) - SLOVAK REPUBLIC - JAN 26, 2018
Bottle from 100 piv. Aroma: wood, lemon, fruit tartness. Hazy golden color, small white head, light crispy body, dry ending. Taste: lemon, berries, wood, not that sour as expected. Really good one.
