Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Somewhere between gold and light orange, almost transparent, average white head, decent retention and some lacing. Aroma is not too bright: hay, tart citric notes and a lactic/cheesy hint. Taste is half sweet, half sour (overall very light on sourness for the style). Tart green apple and citrus, slight lactic/cheesy sourness, a hint of hay/barnyard. Overall a bit more vivid than the aroma. Light to medium bodied, medium to high fizzy thin bubbled carbonation. Overall this is a not too impressive interpretation of the style; but its a super-easy, mildly sour gueuze, which is very easily enjoyable.

Lots of oak, cat piss, funky, dry nose. The mouth is dry, oaky, barnyard, hay, very sharp. A classic lambic with big sour finish.

375ml bottle at home. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a small white head that quickly fades to a tiny ring. Aroma is lemon, hay, funk, grass, dusty grains. Taste is medium sour, light sweet with a longlasting fresh finish full of citrusy notes and funk. Light to medium body and very well carbonated, fizzy. A classic.

From the tap, at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours pale gold with no foam. Aroma only gives typical spontaneous fermentation beer. Body is very light. Taste has moderate sourness. Nice and dry finish.

Bottle pours a nice amber/golden colour and slightly hazy with a big moderately long lasting white frothy head - High carbonation. Lemon, sour apple, farmyard aromas with an earthy, tart lemony vinous taste. A very refreshing drink and fine accompaniment to food especially cheese. A great example of a classic Geuze.

Zeer goede geuze met bekende smaak. Mooie stevige schuimkraag en een zeer malse lekkere smaak.

31/10/2016 @home - 75cl bottle (2011-2012) no idea anymore where I bought it. Hazy yellow colour with nice but quickly fading head. Nose is a lotbof lemon, light sourness. Taste is lemon, some wood, light sourness, some bitterness. Nicely refreshing.

October 30, 2016. Best before October 30, 2035.
Slow gusher, hazy orange with a small frothy and quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is funky and fruity with leather, damp oak, hay, light barnyard notes, green apple, grapes, light citrus and mineral. Taste is tart, fruity, funky and light spicy. Sour and fruity finish with a balanced funkiness, some dry green apple notes, light citrus, dry oak notes, minerals and some hay and barnyard. Light to medium bodied, a bit fizzy small bubble carbonation.
Nice one,

[2016-10-22] Very sour aroma and taste. The aroma is a bit perfume-like, which is is a drawback for this otherwise great beer.
