COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

The bottle was in the early stages of being sun struck because of the traditional sunk smell, but besides that it was lovely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A number of characteristics of this beer compare to a good cheese: (1) the older the better, so check the year printed on the bottle (2) it tastes better than it smells - yes the aroma of fermentation can be disturbing for newcomers (3) It is certainly not for everyone. But for an official Gueuze-Disciple, this formidable brew, strong in flavor, sour, with a reasonable hint of fermentation, can’t get any better. Among my top 5 beers I sampled.

This is a 2013/14 bottle a bit past its prime. A bit skinny through poor storage. Cloudy orange pour. Funky oaky scent with some basement. Lemony flavor with a dry finish. Pretty good.

12.7 oz. bottle served to my sampler glass at the 8th WCD Trade Expo, displaying a clear, golden hue, with a fizzy layer of soft white foam, and spots of lacing. The nose was yeasty funk, a little hay, soft malt/wheat, tart & tangy citrus as grapefruit, a bit of apple, and a hint of oakiness. Light+ bodied with fair carbonation, the taste was similar notes, including some earthy, tannic, and dry astringency. A benchmark Gueze.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2017 One for the initiated. A quite startling experience at first a lambic sour. Very farmyard aroma and an unapologetically dry drop. A beer well suited to a dish of moules frites or just fish and chips. With fried foods it goes very well. The missus hated it. I enjoyed it and would drink again. Unique.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2017 Dejlig gueuze fra Boon. Den perfekte indgang til denne type øl. Ikke for vovet, alligevel for man det hele med.

Lekki funk, kwasek, winogrona w aromacie. Umiarkowanie kwasne, ziola, bretty, troche siana, nuty winne. Bardzo lekkie i niesamowicie pijalne.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2017 Mooi goudblond bier. Fijne witte schuimkraag. Citrus, appeltjes, cider, beetje hooi. Volle smaak, lange fris-zure afdronk. Perfecte instap-geuze. Zéér mooi bier.

Very tart and some chemical plastic aroma. Hazy yellow. Tart bandaid taste up front with a citrus of ugly fruit ending. Bottle
