COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

375 ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange golden with a white head. The aroma reminds of barnyard, old sweat and some vinegar notes. Light to medium body with a lively carbonation. The taste is heavily sour with a light bitterness and some acidity. Flavor of acidic citric fruits, white wine and unripe berries. Dry finish.

Bottle. 2014 - 2015. Golden color, clear. Low, white head. Aroma: fruit, apples, pears, peaches. Taste: Low sourness, rather sweet, some fruits, light wood notes. Astringent, dry. Highly carbonated. Classic but for my not enough funky.

I swore off lambic five years ago after tasting some variations on the style by the commonly found Lindemans brewery and finding them to be really disgusting. But since then my taste has changed and Ive come to love sour and tart beers. Someone at a beer store suggested I try Oude Geuze Boon after I told him that Ive come to love La Folie and some other sours. This is a lambic made without fruit at all, and the Gueuze style, to my understanding, is traditionally a blend of two concurrent vintages. This beer pours cloudy yellow with average head. The aroma is great. Like a sour it has a really nice complexity, with tones of sweet citrus, such as pineapple, blending with funky, cheesy notes. The flavor brings all of the stuff on the nose straight to the tongue, although I found the finish to be a little too subdued. It closes rather quietly, and while each last sip invites the first, Id have enjoyed a little more clamor. Still, when each sip is as good as the previous, its silly to complain.

Barwa pomarańczowa. Aromat kwaskowy, dziki, zielonego jabłka i delikatnych przypraw. W smaku bardzo intensywna dzikość i słodkie jabłka. Finisz całkiem słodki.
