COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Aroma - citrus-ish green apple, cider, slightly grassy and earthy. Big, rapidly diminishing, slightly coarse head atop a slightly hazy pale straw body. Flavour was a bit green apple cider upfront, before the acidic sourness kicked in with some earthy and funky notes in the background. Quite pleasant once you get into it.

375mL bottle. Pours orange-gold with a moderate white head. Aroma is apple, leather, wood, hay, and barnyard. Taste is dry and tart; white grapes, wood, leather, a little apple, some lemon, and earth. An almost minty finish. Light-medium body. Spritzy carbonation.

2013-2014 Season. Clear golden in apperance. Aroma is great- old malts with a sour background. Good and well balanced sourness, no harsh stuff. Maltiness comes though nicely. Strong woody mouthfeel. Dry finish with sour apples in taste.

Shared bottle (2014-2015 vintage, bottled in 2016). Unclear golden colour, small white head with decent duration. Aroma of white fruits, currants, leather. Taste is dry, medium sour, light bitter, of currants, white fruits and lemon. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Still young, but very crisp and not very sharp - easily accessible gueuze.

Pours with typical foam, color is nice cloudy orange-yellow. Aroma has lactic acid, pear, apple, rotten vegetables, campfire, leather jacket, toilet refresher and medicine. Palate is light and the carbonation is fine and dense. Taste is sour (or sour beer like) and has mint, lemon peel, lime, grape seed and pencil. Quite an elegant taste, eventhough some of the tastes sound weird. The sourness is a bit too dominant to my taste, but others might find it a good aspect. Very refreshing as well. Not a top Lambic, but not bad.

Somehow I have never rated this in my time on Ratebeer. First geuze I ever tried and still very nice. 37.5 cL Bottle at home. Pours hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma has some citrus, funk, wood and tartness. Taste is soft to medium sour with citrus, wood, a bit of funk and malts. Medium body and carbo. Nicely balanced gueze, excellent to try for people new to the style.

Barwa jasna, piana szybko znika. Aromat średnio intensywny. W smaku kwaśne ale subtelne i delikatne, goryczka na finiszu nie zbyt mocna. Fajne piwo ale czegoś mi brakuje.

Very easily drinkable. Seems to be the point. Some tartness and green apples, but somewhat relaxed and compromising.
