Oude Kriek Boon is one of the finest examples of the 100% spontaneous fermentation fruit-Lambic style. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a blend of young and old Boon Lambic that has been aged in oak casks. After clarification, the Oude kriek is bottled and refermented. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavourings, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle. Cheers !

Nice red colour. Huge pink and soapy head. Aroma of marzipan (a lot of marzipan), cherry, hay. Dry taste. Sour of course. Not that much cherry in the taste, a little bit earthy. Long and dry aftertaste. Not my kind of beer, didn’t even drink the whole bottle..

Draft. Dark red pour with a nice pinkish purple head. Aroma is pungent sour cherry, earthy, lemon. Flavor is cherry but not ulta sour or funky. It is decent but not top of the class.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark red with beautiful reflections. Aroma is intense of cherries under spirit. Body is kind of average, with tickling carbonation. Taste definitely has some sweetness to it, with good sourness, but not excessive. Finish is nice and short. Also a bit of balsamic.

Vells (1980) - Rīga, LATVIA - JAN 2, 2018
Awesome! Closest feeling to "fresh ripe cherries in summer" I got from beer. Very juicy, moderate sweet with perfectly balanced tartness.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2018 Tap at Scheras Zwanze day. Super dark red pour. Aroma is massive cherry, slight funk. Taste follows, lots of cherry. Really good.

Draft at the Sovereign. Slightly hazy reddish purplish with a lasting pink head. Aroma is nice sour cherry and mild funk. Flavor is actually on the sweeter side, loads of cherry flavor, some mild funky tartness. Medium bodied, very smooth, not too acidic. Good one.

Mpuntmuts (370) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 16, 2017
Cloudy ruby pour without any head. Aroma of tart cherries, funk, wet dog, some citrus. Taste is over medium sour, halfway medium sweet and softly bitter. Thin bodied with medium Co2. Another great Kriek where the cherries are more present than the "mariage parfait".

alteregoo (1826) - Kalisz, POLAND - NOV 30, 2017

deepdrinker (367) - Leeds, ENGLAND - NOV 27, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 29, 2017 Deep red / ruby colour with a fruity aroma . Tastes unsurprisingly sour but nic and the cherries complement the taste

Marduk (8622) - Reval, ESTONIA - NOV 10, 2017
375ml bottle. Deep ruby red color. Medium size, pink head, stays. Sour, old cherries, woody, oak, fruity in aroma. Sour, lots of cherries, some cherry stone effect, fruity, oak and tannins or skins in taste. Dry sour cherries in aftertaste. Dry mouthfeel. Sharp acidity, but at the same time quite mellow. Very solid brew.

Tap at Akurrat, Stockholm. I enjoyed this a bit but I overall found it way too syrupy. It was very thick and had a lot of festive flavours like cinnamon, nutmeg and deep glacé cherry. For me, it felt almost artificial (which I know it isn't) but not so sure it felt natural like the cantillon beers do so well.
