From the current bottling
Pours pretty enough, like a deep mahogany with a small espresso swirl head.

The aroma is sweet, rich, & pleasant. Some caramel & nuttiness, some mild booze that almost comes off Brandy like... a bit of citrus fruitiness.

The flavor is sweet & caramel forward with some piney hops, some cooked pear and a bit of nuttiness. The booziness is just too much though, it really stands in the way of the more pleasant flavors... like someone threw a shot of cheap Brandy into some otherwise perfectly delicious beer. I get that itís barleywine & that some hotness is normal or even welcome, but here itís unfortunately distracting.

The body comes off as thin, thenlow Carbonation is perfect but it feels like a beer like this should be just a bit more viscous.
Itís real close to being a great beer, but Iím not sure Iíd repeat purchase this @ $23.99.

Fantastic beer that ages very well or is good fresh. Complex aroma. Rich caramel flavor and notes of Sherry. Alcohol is noticeable but is not overpowering. Very well balanced beer.

Draft at Great Nebraska Beer Fest courtesy of HuskerTan, thanks! Hazy golden amber color, tan head. Aroma of burnt caramel. Taste is very sweet caramel.

[On-tap at BVB] Pours red with a nice, long-lasting beige head. Aroma is quite sweet and hard to peg--candyish, caramel, a little citrus mixed in (orange). Nicely balanced. The taste is huge on strawberry jam. There is also caramel, a slight nuttiness, and mild alcohol. As it warms, the alcohol really comes out though, and gets a little distracting. Medium mouthfeel, incredibly smooth, and has an average length finish. Overall, very solid, just gets a little hot. Would be a great sipper in the winter.
