Dark in colour but surprisingly light and refreshing on the palate, with aromas of tropical fruit and resinous pine.

zacgillbanks (5726) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2016
Bottle from Booths, Keswick. Very dark brown-black in colour with a thin tan head. It has a rich pine, plum, currants and citrus flavour followed by a malty and smooth chocolate-coffee finish with more pine notes. Very Nice!

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Clear brown coloured with a small off-white head. Quite floral in character, although there’s a few roasted malts in here, however the fusion of both is quite strange. Its tropical fruit is most evident in its nose.

500ml bottle from Booths in Windermere - Deep mahogany brown body, thin off white head. Nose is thick piney resin, some tart tropical fruits, grapefruit and strong citrus. A bit thin in the body, but the taste is great. Long bitter finish goes on forever, giving the kumquat and spruce flavour a massive boost. I’d struggle to find a supermarket beer as good.

gegwilson (3835) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 7, 2015
Bottle from Booths in Ripon. Pours mahogany with a cream head. Sweet, slightly perfumey pine aroma. The taste is pine and spice with a good bitter finish and roasty chocolate malt flavours in the background. Quite light and refreshing. Very tasty.

Brewed by Hawkshead. Very dark brown with thin lacy head. Strong aroma of fruity and piney hops. Quite a rich and oily feel. Very full flavoured with plenty of hop bitterness up front but with some dark dried fruits to balance. The finish has some roast malt bitterness.

Bottle. Booths, Ilkley. Clear, dark red. Film, and a few bubbles of beige head. Lots of peachy fruit. Some grapefruit. Blackcurrant. Roast malt behind that. Plenty of liquorice. Taste is soft bitter, with some sweet, to start. Turns a little dry, whilst the bitterness rises. Smooth palate. Soft carbonation. Finishes moderate, lingering bitter. Opened up as it warmed. Tasty and very drinkable.

Bottle from Booths, MediaCityUK [121114]
Dark ruby caramel brown, clear, frothy tan head, some lacing
Aroma of pine hops, citrus zest, slight floral hop, dark malts undeneath, good dark malt / hop balance
Taste of dark malts, mellow roast, piney hops, citrus zest hops, rich flavour, dark bitter chocolate, good dark malts, plenty of bitter zest, really good flavour
Palate - soft carb, medium body, good mouth feel, quite rich, fairly bitter. Finish of bitter zest and bitter roast all nicely mixed up
Overall - Really good Black IPA....nice stout dark malt background

spacecube (1822) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 10, 2014
500ml bottle, pours deep brown / black with a tan head. Aroma is roasty malt with burnt, light smokey edge, grapefruit and mango zesty hop flavour. Very fresh and good balance, finish is dry and bitter. Body is medium, texture oily, average carbonation. Very tasty BIPA.

dynamiteninja (1953) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 18, 2014
Bottle. Deep mahogany body. Thin tan head. Nose is citrus and roasted malt. Oak wood. Bitter with a dry finish.

McNeillR (2336) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 12, 2014
Solid shady brown, decent laced sandy brown head. Bullish earthy pine, soft brassy juiciness. Initial taste, clean and down the middle. Gummy citrus and bumpy bitterness throughout a gleaming dark malt. Finishes a gleam of windolene lemon that rings out a wee bit too much - little fade on the linger.
