Bottle brought back from Western Australia by my buddy. Hell yeah mother fucker! Nose is full of roasted malts and some coffee. Pours dark brown, some red hues underneath. Thing beige ring. Roast and coffee, underlying dark malty sweetness, light chocolate. Solid roast and dryness in the finish. Lightly warming. Good. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - OCT 10, 2009

Bottle - Very dark with a red tinge. beige head. Medium carbonation, slightly effervescent on the tongue. Roasted malts with a bit of dark fruit and a touch of smoke. Slightly dry finish but only a light bitterness. Quite pleasant. MBison (548) - Southern Highlands, AUSTRALIA - OCT 16, 2008
Bottle (330ml). Poured dark ruby brown with a decent sized, rocky, tanned head which was average lasting. Aroma was of rich toffee with toasted malts, dusty chocolate, buttery caramel, currents and raisins. Flavour was of black coffee with a moderate bitterness, roasted chocolate malts, sultana’s, dried figs, some salt and liquorice in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry/slightly creamy mouthfeel, thick texture (but not overly so) and a good finish. gam (3924) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 22, 2008

Thsi example had a rich biscuity and chocolatly edge to the aroma and flavour. Overall flavour a little muddy. ChrisTurner (207) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUN 3, 2007
Bottle -- Dark, dark ruby red with quite active carbonation. Generous beige head with OK retention and lacing. Aroma has roasted malt and rich dark fruit with some subtle smokey notes. Creamy medium palate, although with some wateriness as you get closer to the bottom of the glass. The flavour is perhaps fairly flat for a porter, without as much complexity as I’d expect for the style, but still very pleasant, with more smokiness and rich dark fruit. There’s some alcohol warmth towards the end. Not at all bad. Muggus69 (2491) - Yarram, Vic, AUSTRALIA - APR 16, 2007
330ml bottle at Australian Hotel, Sydney. I may as well make this my 50th rate mainly because it was probably one of the better beers i’ve tried at the Australian. Rich nose full of roasted and burnt malts and dark chocolate. Pours a near-opaque black body with a bit of diminishing tan lace. Body is dense, with plenty of rich dark chocolate and toasted malts, with hints of coffee and dark fruits. Finishes quite dry and slightly chalky, alcohol is quite well hidden. Don’t get many big porters made here in Australia, a welcome suprise this one. eczematic (1325) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - MAR 11, 2007
Viscous dark red stuff with an offwhite head. smells of crystal malt and toast and not much else. in the mouth an extremely hefty, simplistic and sweet chocolatey flavour with no bitterness or yeast acidity to balance. heavy going and quite a boring beer for the ABV. but nothing actively wrong with it technically speaking and i have no doubt they made it exactly how they wanted it to taste - big and fat and dark brown and kind of stupid. the beer equivalent of a black labrador. johninmelb (1127) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 17, 2007
Rich and smoky burnt malt nose. Pours very dark with a tan head. The flavour continues with the rich smokiness, adding notes of licorice, coffee beans, and peat. Finish contains a lingering alcohol warmth and some coffee grounds. Not too shabby.
