Thick malty aroma. Dark but clear ruby brown colour with excellent head. Toffee malt flavour wit excellent finish. Medium body and carbonation. omhper (25128) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUN 10, 2005
Bottled. Dark mahogany, rich firm head. Nutmeg aroma. Elegant, woody and solidly malty, There’s a rich cookie malt flavour and lots of milky chocolate. The hop late is low, and does not distract from the richness of the malt flavours. Complex, and really, really good! davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - SEP 2, 2010
Bottle 330ml. Interesting beer. Aromas of apple, vegemite, and toast. Taste is bitter, and long-lasting. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy white head. Bootlegger007 (164) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 2, 2015
Pours a dark brown almost black colour with a lasting creamy off white head, aromas of malts and toffee, lightly floral with an earthy background, flavours of fruits, rasin and plum, hint of vanilla, roasted malts, full bodied with a moderate bitter aftertaste, awesome. Bottle from Thirsty Crow (September 2014). Dark cola brown, 2cm tan head, coffee, golden syrup, raisins, prunes, dark chocolate, thick, syrupy texture, earthy bitterness, sweet, slightly smoky finish. Excellent.

A style not generally well done by Australian brewers. Intense flavour overcomes any tendency to astringency or bitterness. Strong finish demands more. Bottled brew is insipid compared to that off the keg! The ABV reflects itself in your legs rather than your head. Excellent with beef on a cold winter's day. From a 330ml bottle on 8/7/2010. Has masses of chocolate, a bit of coffee and some cherry in the aroma. In the mouth, it’s very sweet, with chocolate and caramel dominating. There is a moderate bitter finish which balances its distinctly dessert like character. This is a fabulous drop if, like me, you like big dollops of sweetness. Nov, 2005. Kilburn Palace Bottle Fest. Chocolatey ale with mild fizz. Apple notes in the finish. Pleasant chocolate. Very nice. mkel07 (5978) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - MAY 13, 2010
330ml bottle. Black as night with a thick tan head that settles quickly. Warming aromas of melted dark chocolate with an espresso hit. Smooth and silky on the palate with a strong roast malt flavour. Sweet with a long finish. StevieT (2013) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 16, 2013
Strong coffee and chocolate flavours, quite smooth and very tasty. I could drink a lot of this!
