Cork exploded from the bottle like champers! Cloudy brown beer, big off white head. Frothy light palate, somewhat over carbonated. Dry malt. Sugary sweet. Trace of fruit. Dry finish. A mess and lacking flavour.
Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a gloomy and glowing tea brown hue with a fluffy topping of foam for a head. There wasn’t much for me to smell in the aroma and the only scent I can manage to pick up on is a funky strain of yeast or yeast gone bad. The flavor is rancid and has deteriorated becoming a gloopy malt and dead yeast mess. I really hate breweries who don’t take old product off the shelf. I don’t know who to blame really, though, it could be the distributors fault or liquor store. I am able to taste a slight sweetness but not a flavor I would compare to plum or rock candy. I hate when I have to pour beer down the drain.

Bottle:   Towards the end of this bottle the color is very mocha like, thick, large pillowy sand colored head, nice lacing.   Nice plum aroma, comes out more as it warms.   Soft dank basement, smidgen of mustiness and candi sugar.   Soft figgy notes on the tongue.   I would say plum on the tongue, but its more dark pitted fruit than simple plum, but the aroma... now thats plum.   Spritzy on the tongue, seems well carbonated, and not too heavy or chewy.   Finish is sweet, candyish, with soft notes of dark pitted fruit and plum.   Finish is a little lacking in that its not as fruity as I woudl like, seems to fall off too quickly.   Thanks for the bottle Ron! daknole (11044) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 8, 2011

29 July 2011, tap at brewery. med orange, hazy, no bubbles. nose is rich belgian gold, slightly buttery, alcohol and yellow raisins. med body and slightly fizzy. can’t say i find much plum here. just an okay belgian strong ale. alcohol, slightly tart, prominent alcohol. big bodied belgian.
