21 Oct 2016, tap at Bootleggers. orange, faintly cloudy, some steady bubbles. nose is heavy on the smoked malt but it is sweet enough that it is balanced rather nicely. Med body and mildly fizzy. sweet, almost some brown sugar, smoked malt is mild so this balances great. i actually rather like it. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 6, 2012
Rich gold colored pour with a lacey white head. Lots of smoked meat notes in the nose. Flavor carries through. Sausage and a black herbal tea on the tongue. GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 26, 2012
Tap at Bootleggar’s for RBSG2012. Clear golden pour with medium white foam. Nose is rich smoke, bacon, sausage, orange blossom honey. Taste is fatty, oily, bitter, tangy, citrusy. Nice balance. Palate is very detergent heavy/soapy. Lemon tea and soap. Started off very nice- perhaps left in the fermentation vessel for too long. yespr (47039) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - JUL 20, 2012
From tap at the brewery. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is smoked and light meaty note. Meaty and smoked. Light sweet caramelish and toasted. Lingering smoked finish. brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 2, 2012
The pour is golden in color, which is a tad unusual for a smoked beer. Not really much going on here other than the smoke. Maybe a touch of bread and honey? The flavor is pretty much the same. A touch of salt, light bread, and mostly just smoke. The smoke is not a terribly intense flavor, it’s just the only real flavor there.
