A dark brown ipa with a thin mocha brown head. In aroma, pleasant biscuit malt with loads of floral hops, resinous and smooth. In mouth, smooth coffee grinds with nice resinous floral hops, bitter chocolate , nice. jercraigs (10374) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 16, 2013
2013-06-02. Black body with a modest tan head and lace. 3+ Aroma of leafy green hops over dark malt. Flavour is pleasantly hoppy - leafy green hops over very lightly roasty dark malt. Roast and bitterness grow as you go, pleasantly so. Not my favorite but a pretty solid take on the style. Avereage plus bodied palate, modest carbonation suits it. Enjoyable. [5473-20130602] Sample. Roasted orange peel hops aroma. Brown cola body with a quick foamy tan head. Bitter roasted wood malt flavour has a lovely tinge of orange throughout. Full body. Great for the style. (8/3/9/4/17) 4.1

Draught at Mondial de la Bière 2012, June 7. Pours a very dark brown with a small frothy light-brown head. Decent lacing. Aroma is malty and lightly hoppy along with some coffee notes. Flavour of roasted malt, caramel, light leafy hops and a hint of coffee. Average bodied. Pretty good stuff. Boutip (6380) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 21, 2012
Bottle: Poured a clear deep black color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and resin hops is not as powerful as I was expecting. Taste is also a good mix between some medium roasted malt with light bitterness and some medium resin hoppy notes. Body is a bit light for style with not enough of a creamy body with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad but I was expecting a bigger hops punch with a fuller body. Large dense beige foam covers the close to black pour and stays there for minutes. While I expected an in your face aroma, it is not the case here. In fact, the roasted malts take as important a place as the citrusy and coniferous hops. It can’t be called complex though. In mouth, the malts are relatively round, subject to an active stream of carbonation, consisting of medium-sized bubbles who remain soft on the tastebuds and almost become creamy if you shake the glass a little. Those malts, while round, lean more towards the roasted side of thing, venturing both into coffee and chocolate territory, but never bringing forth an exagerated residual sugar levels. in fact, it remains mostly dry all throughout. The hops are present all along, complementing the roast with their bright citrus character which is probably the dominating feature of the whole flavour profile. It lasts on between each sip, but never feels agressive. While never particularly transcending nor complex, this Black IPA is neatly balanced and possesses an agreeable refined mouthfeel. In short: A roasted, yeasty, dry, coniferous and grapefruity Black IPA. Solid.Marheb (5779) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 8, 2013
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed approximately one month after purchase.
The look: Black body topped by a large tan head with medium retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is a good mix of roast (burnt toasts) along with citrusy and piney hops. Nothing intense in the nose but this basic mix of aromas appears well balanced and inviting. Taste has a moderate amount of malts that comes out strong because they are highly roasted. That moderate amount of malts is supported by a yeasty soup. The high roasted level brings forth the usual suspects of burnt toasts, roasted coffee beans and such. Hoping is very coniferous in mouth with bitter grapefruits showing up in the very end. An overall bright sensation in the hopping makes for a crisp beer even if very yeasty. The relatively low malt density makes for a rather low sweetness sensation. Pretty solid effort by Boquébière, these guys keep improving. If someone ever makes a move about my life and you then you watch it backwards it will be the story of a guy who refills beer bottles and brings them to a store to get money.
Le Colombus colle à la langue avec un léger support rôti, ya même quelque chose de lacté dans le corps, amertume modeste. Belle cuvée.
