On tap at the brewhouse. Pours a deep brown with a nice brown head. Moderate (in a great way), subtle vanilla with slight roast. Flavors follows through with the vanilla lending a soft rounded mouthfeel. Quality beer and my favorite from the tasting session.
One way to describe this beer is “a dark beer for people who don’t like dark beers.” Another way is “delicious.” Notes of cocoa, espresso, and delicately roasted barley blend nicely with real Mexican vanilla from Arizona Vanilla Company. This medium bodied, highly sippable beer is quickly becoming a local favorite.

On tap at Borderlands, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out notes of vanilla, light cinnamon, and lactose. Flavour is very bizarre, with notes of cinnamon and vanilla upfront, with a dirty earthy character that clouds everything up. Needs some tweaking, as this doesn’t taste optimal. Ar: Dense, moist vanilla flavor; some brown sugar, deep caramel, and cocoa. Ap: Deep brown, almost opaque; small tan head with low retention, leaves a ring of medium bubbles and a very thin wisp of cover. T: Big vanilla up front, but it quickly becomes thin and medicinal; fairly ashy, with some chocolate and dark caramel notes; medium-high bitterness, much of it seeming to come from the roast malt; fairly dry throughout, not much sweetness; short, abrupt finish. P: Medium-light body with low carbonation; finish is dry. O: There is a nice aroma here and some nice flavors, but the beer just doesn’t come together; the dark malts are a bit too edgy without some more supporting sweetness, which makes the vanilla come off as artificial and medicinal. mike5326 (1754) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - JAN 11, 2017

Pours very dark with dark chocolate head. Aroma and flavor of spiced vanilla at first is a little heavy handed and artificial, but ends up nice. Not a lot of depth in this sweet leaning dessert beer, but it’s nice enough.

Dark beer with big foamy beige head. Milk chocolate and artificial vanilla nose. Lactic acid sweetness, chocolate and a medicinal artificial vanilla that I just don’t prefer. Not what I had hoped. Barreras (1689) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - MAR 22, 2016
Pours a dark brown with a deep coco and chocolate aroma. Taste is roasted malt, vanilla, and a robust amount barley giving this beer a full flavor. The roasted malt and barley overwhelmed this.beer making it a little less enjoyable. But overall a decent beer for the style. BiiruBierBeer (1051) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 23, 2016

sepia with thin cream ring, oily cap. Oily light pine hops, some earthy roast, heavy paint-booze. Papery bitter front palate, nuts and chocolate, thin slick body into the chocolate finish, light heat.
