Deep dark pour that produces a thick black body over a head that resembles a chocolate thickshake.
Nice roasty warm chocolate aroma.
Dark chocolate and roast malt bitterness towards the end. Smooth full palate. daboskabouter (1470) - Fergus, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2005
Black opaque appearance with nice creamy brown head. A toasty aroma - creamy and sweet with a light hint of coffee bean. The body is creamy and smooth with a nice timid roastiness. Light hop bitterness at the end. A silky smooth and enjoyable sweet stout, straightforward, yet somehow beautifully done. Suttree (6415) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 23, 2005
Black with a thick brown head. Big roasty aroma, with some notes of coffee, as well. Very smooth flavors of milk chocolate tempered nicely by a hint of charcoal. Tasty to the finish - I really enjoyed this one. Thanks to Springslicker for this one! fluids (364) - Massachusetts, USA - JUL 18, 2005
Head goes immediately. Malty coffee smell. Very dark brown color. Roasty coffee dry taste with a bitter tail. Had at Le St Amable in old Montreal. lilannie (384) - Adamstown, Maryland, USA - JUL 16, 2005
Aroma: dry, roasted coffee beans, some cream, slight bourbon accents, and oak

Appearance: very dark, light brown head, lacing
Flavor: dark cherries, French roast coffee with a touch of sugar, little cream/milk
Palate: a dryness--like dried instant coffee flakes, sweet roasted coffee bean aftertaste
Surprisingly smoky aroma with a touch of maple or butterscotch. The bubble accumulating on top fo black body have a caramel/dark tan color to them that seems a bit odd. A little meaty in the flavor, like a beef jerky brines in worchester sauce or liquid smoke. Gritty malts, sweet behind the wall of smoke... which itself almost seems like charred meat stuck to the grill. Not sure how else to put it. It’s a stout and it tastes good. How’s that? Jet black with burgundy notes and fast fading rocky chocolate brown head. Roasted malt nose with slight tinny notes. Roast malt taste with some coffee notes and slight tinny hints. the tinnyness seems to fade as it warms. Crit (4024) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 18, 2005

Great looking beer - jet black with a tight frothy head. Smells and tastes of a dark roasted malt.A lingering coffee-like bitter finish. Medium body and a smooth silky texture. All in all a very good experience. Commodore (112) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 21, 2005
Poured a thick black oily colour with hints of red in the light. Had a thick head that reminded me of chocolate mousse, but it did disappear too quickly. Very malty aroma and a v.v. good smell. Nice bitter edge to it and a chewy texture. Would have again!
