COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Garún is named for the strong and brave heroine of one of Iceland’s most popular folktales "The deacon of Dark River (Myrká)." A tale of ghosts, undying love, and life triumphing over death told against the backdrop of elements essential to Iceland’s character: ice, snow, and flooding waters whirling dark and mysterious. The same elements that inspire this rich, intense, bold and swirlingly varied Icelandic stout. Garún is a dark aura of intense richness and haunting aroma with notes of chocolate, licorice and coffee. Skál!"

ciekawe piwo, slodkie, jednak dosc wodniste, goryczka palona, ciemna kawa, ciemne owoce- jagoda, borowka, w jednej z recenzji czytalem o anyzu i tez go wyczuwam, tak samo jak alkohol sredniej jakosci.

[email protected], from Alko Kaleva, Tampere, Finland. Medium, slightly stingy aroma with licorice and some alcohol with a lactose twist. Pitch black color with minimal, light beige carbonation. Balanced, soft taste with licorice and roasted malts, some coffee and vanilla. Medium/wide taste spectrum and long aftertaste with roasted malts and licorice. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, good quality, though not too distinctive. Could also have more body and less carbonation.

(33 cl bottle from Vinbudin Austurstrćti; Label claims 2016 vintage) Poured at Mikkeller Bar-like temperature (i.e. sub-fridge) into a stemmed burgundy glass reveals a pitch black body with one finger of tan headnthat recedes after a while leaving film and lace. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice and candy sugar with a hint of iodine. Creamy texture, soft carbonation, medium to full body and a warming finish. Flavour is a little on the sweet side in order to mask the abv, which it does well without getting cloying. Quite a sipper.
